Looks great, love the coral mags behind the tank. Im sure the kids are ready to see some life in there.
Yeah, we are all fired up for the fish transfer. The SRQT has been so easy. The students are learning a lot but getting the fish in the display tank makes it all feel special.

Happy to see things coming along? And the young people actually learning the process verse just tossing fish in and hoping for the best.

;On a side note
I saw your recent puffer panel video. I will definitely have to chat with you about mines eating habits. It only wants to eats krill Myiss or brine, and refuse clams halfs and other foods.

That's so awesome eager to see it all grown out. Sad but the memorial wall is a interesting way to embrace the lost fish.

You can feel free to invite some of the club members to come check out the frag swap if any of them have tanks or they are considering it. I don't know if a swap could be called educational in itself, yet it might be a experience related to the hobby.

Are you all dosing anything?
Any plans for future fish addtions or other livestock?

Ah thank you for the comments Michael and your donations in the past. Next time we have an East Bay tank tour I’ll sign the club tank up for sure.

Questions from a curious colleague: Does your school have extreme summer cleaning and most teachers stay off campus during most of the break? Your room retains climate control over break? Do you have waxed flooring? How are you handling protecting your aquarium creatures during floor stripping and such? This is my most stressful time of the year. I think the chemicals they use are totally different (nontoxic) than what they used when I set up in 2015 and last year there was a mixup and some floor work was done before I could cover tanks, shut off equipment, and turn air pumps on. I saw no ill effects and just uncovered and aired out as usual later. I wish I knew what exactly I need to be doing about that.

Not sure. Our first summer with the tank. The district made me turn in my room keys so I can only come in when custodians are working, so I’m limited. I have the tank connected to a Hydros Controller so I can monitor from home. So far the tank is doing great. I water change 10 gallons a week and have it on an auto feeder. I’ll find out when they are planning to wax the floors and what that all involves. The most difficult thing so far has been the fire marshal who believes you can have electronics in water. I keep explaining you can’t have a tank without a heater and pumps but it’s been a struggle.

Admittedly I've only met a handful of fire marshals but being a prick seems like part of the job description.

You're in Alameda, right?, so it's cooler than Pleasant Hill, but do you need AC during summer? Does your Hydros log room temp? I had a room thermometer probe wired to my old Apex that sticks out the bottom of a cabinet so I would know if the room was super hot before the tank temp rose too much.
OH MY GOODNESS - I swear every fire marshal and mainly the outsourced safety inspector is different (much like residential bldg inspectors). A couple of inspections ago a guy wrote me up like 30 times saying everything plugged into Apex Energy Bar, Inkbird/Ranco controller, and POWER STRIPS were "daisy chained." I had even gotten the power strips with individual outlet circuits and switches. Oh yeah - and anything plugged into a timer on a 6" tail or one that changed the orientation of the plug to fit into the outlet. (okay, maybe the tail does constitute daisy chain). Also said lights mounted over water (on goosenecks) were hazardous and he wasn't writing it on the report but I should reconsider their placement. If anyone here is a fire marshal, don't get me wrong - I am all about safety for my students, aquarium inhabitants, and school building, but sheesh. At least when my mini science building was constructed the requirement to have stickers on the windows that say "open for ventilation" went away.

I think this is a great project but if I read one of your threads correctly you can only get in when the janitors are there ? What happens if there is an emergency ?
