Anyone have a Biscuit Starfish (Pentagonaster dubeni) in there tank? How long have you had it for? Has it eaten any of your corals?

same. Horrible shippers, probably pre shipping handling.Haven’t seen one that hasn’t melted after the first month.
Sad....
They are beautiful
I hope you’re wrong too my friend lolStart counting the days
I fear a speedy demise
I hope I’m wrong...
Let’s hope they survive. These arrived in perfect condition. I’ve read they like lots of oxygen so adding an air stone to the tank.
What would you suggest to do to raise O2 in the tank? That doesn't do much for adding o2, but it doesn't hurt.
This is speculation from my part so take with healing cup of salt
lowering temp from 26 to 23c results in oxygen solubility increase from 6.62 to 6.96 mg/l according to a chart online, just over 5% increase
proper gas exchange probably matters too, especially at night when respiration: primary productivity ratio is greater
Recommendation for oxygenation during fish dips seem to lower temp, drop salinity, and add aeration - aside from dropping salinity, I feel like this is doable in a tank
I have seen H2O2 oxygen generators in freshwater. not sure if applicable here
There’s a lot of conflicting info out there on them and they get misidentified a lot. This pic you posted shows the African type ( Goniaster tessellatus) but has it labeled as Pentagonaster dubeni which is from Australia. Same type I have. I have them in my garage tank which is normally 76 and gets colder at night and dips down to 74ish.Those stars are so crazy beautiful!! What tank are you keeping them in and the
temperature?

That is the hope, we'll find out. I have a separate tank I can setup with colder water if needed.Do you think they can survive in much warmer water temp 74-76 then where their found?
