So i got a single polyp nps sold to me as a bendrophyllia. I did some looking around and assume its a balanophyllia. I couldn't find much on this specific species(whatever that may be). So if anyone could confirm or not its a balanophyllia and if not what the genus/species is. (Not the fat head dendro)

The base is large, half dollar size. Not like a standard sun/cup tubastrea

Doubt it, they generally don't have tissue stretching on the outside of the corallite from what I've seen. This looks like a colonial branching NPS, probably balanophyllia (unless reclassified lately). Jake had an old video on them: https://reefbuilders.com/2009/03/07/balanophyllia-video/
Thanks Thomas, I saw that picture but missed the article somehow. Looks like balanophyllia. Il dig around and see what else I can find about it. Iv had it for 3~4 months its never shy polyps extended mostly through the day. But at night its polyps double in length il get a pic tonight.

Its rad, like a tubeastrea on steroids. I was hoping to nail down the species but info is scarce.

I'm afraid you won't get too far. I'm not too sure there is much CITES on those. I know years ago what came in, wasn't exactly legally landed.
