Over the years I have had the good fortune to witness various species spawn.
This evening, around 5:00, I saw one of my urchins releasing gametes into the water column.
I was wondering if anyone else has seen any at this time?
Is the cause related to the lunar cycle or perhaps by water chemistry?

My buddy’s urchin did that almost every time he did a water change. It was a huge tank with fist sized urchin though.

My former longed spine urchins released white stuff at 1615 in October. They made the water column cloudy. These ones munched on my corals.

I have witnessed “globe” aka “royal” urchins, brittle stars, coco worms, and trochus snails over the years.
I’ll be sure to post during the next event

I plead technologically challenged or I would post videos

One of my porcelain crabs mounted up on a rock, spread eagle and spewed out countless amounts of eggs. Lights were off and I saw my fish going nuts. I thought it was an lps burp until I saw the purple porcelain crab releasing its eggs. I was to awestruck to take pics. It was on a fuller moon night in my tank. Its so awesome to watch our tanks proliferate in real time.

My trochus used to all go up to the water line at lights out and “smoke”
I’ve seen bristle worms doing it before post water change
