Chewy is doing some sales again, just got a 200 gal Instant Ocean Reef Crystals salt box for $50.

    High calcium

IMO, you could get away with a magnesium dose by hand every month with a test and a reef calculator to tell you how much to dump in if you don't want a dosing pump. Mag doesn't get used up that fast, there is a fair amount of it in the water and the acceptable range is really wide. Ato isn't a...

    What Temperature do run?

Here's an interesting data point for you, in Vegas summer, I have to run my AC down to 75-76 in that zone, keep a fan on the tank, and another fan to recirculate hot air from my office to the rest of the house to keep the tank close to 78 and it routinely gets to 80 during the afternoon. Winter...

    Michael's 300 In Vegas

And if not, it's just the garage floor and it drains down my driveway. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't forgotten about my rodi waste water line when I was pumping it into a brute can (for watering outdoor plants in the summer) and drained 15+ gallons on the floor of the garage...at least 5...

    Neptune Trident Sample line issue

I go straight to pushing DI water from the Trident end to the sample end anytime that issue comes up. If that doesn't fix it, the clog is in the Trident and you push the water from the sample side, through each tube by systematically pressing the solonoid button as you squirt the water and let...

These bins are surprisingly strong. I kept 50 gallons in here before when I first moved out which is where I got the idea from. I agree filling it all the way would likely be a mistake, but it gives me a good buffer of water given how much I to use.

What don't you like? It is sitting directly on the 4 2x6's on the plywood. Or you don't like using these black bins as water containers?

Got two sheets of 3/4" plywood over there now, and filled it up to 50 gallons with no noticeable flex in any bad directions.

I ordered the one size up, so it is 5/8" - 1 1/4", so with the algae scraper it is still centered at 3/4" glass. And I have a spacer to "weaken" the field. But seriously, these magnets are no joke. My other smaller ones can hurt a finger badly, these would be catastrophic.

I do trust your input, just ordered one to try with all the fixings. I do have 3 sides of the tank to clean after all.

    Favorite Nano Skimmer

Just to close the loop here. The DC version seems to make finer bubbles and is tunable within the right height. I like it, but haven't taken it apart yet. I'll like it less then if that day comes.
