    Monti setosa

Same issue as the other thread, grew for a couple months and then kicked it with most of the other SPS.

    Dayglo favites

Sadly the entire tank is in a sad state at the moment, hence the lack of updates on all of my threads, still figuring out why, but that one did nicely for a while but, along with pieces I've had nearly a decade, perished over the last few months of last year.

    Coral Fight Club!

Shave off what you can and treat the remnants like aiptasia.

    Ecotech m1 issue

I do agree that it's in their best interest to replace it from a consumer confidence perspective. Ignoring the totality of "any pump", what other design flaws were accepted in a post warranty setting other than those and MP40 magnet failures? I saw a lot of Maxspect Gyre cords have their cord...

    Ecotech m1 issue

I would agree except that it was bought used, and may well be past the warranty period. I also don't know the previous owner, but I wouldn't be surprised if they had occasional (or not) issues with it. The odds of the very first issue being the day it was brought home are low. If that's the...

    Ecotech m1 issue

Bothersome to have to buy fittings, but this was a free pump body out of warranty.

    What lfs carries Icp test?

Going to bump this for the same curiosity. Good to know that Neptune's does, but at >100 miles round trip to Neptune's I'd like to know if there are other options.

    Making my own salt water?

It really is nice. When I ran service and had a couple customers who wanted salt mixed on site. I didn’t mind because it meant not having to transport it. One it was cheap salt and treated tap water (borderline FOWLR) and the other nice salt and RODI. Both places used roughly 100 gallons of...

    Ecotech m1 issue

Known issue, they might replace your pump body for that, I’ve seen that before. Don’t use it.

    Ecotech m1 issue

Sounds like all is well, but a few things that have helped me out in the past for future reference. 1. While I can't speak to second owner situations, when I was servicing tanks I had Ecotech replace M1/L1 pump bodies, drivers, and power supplies well out of warranty if it wasn't a case of...

    Underwater Blink Cam

I have a webcam that sits on the outside of my tank when I travel. I leave it disconnected the rest of the time as I don't want a camera continuously streaming from my house otherwise. You would need a way to bulkhead the cable, but a snap-top container might be a nice way to seal that up. One...

    Don't do what I did

A few people have done this on reef2reef in the past couple months. A huge portion of the initial dose ends up binding into the rocks, so other than a brief surge it doesn't have the same impact as other parameters. Don't do anything brash to avoid what might happen. As discussed already there...

Reefers with tanks 120g+, any regrets?

I’ve gone the 75 route on other tanks. Careful to make sure you can get the skimmer in and out without taking the entire sump out. Depending on space a 50, if you can find one, can be a good in between size.

Reefers with tanks 120g+, any regrets?

Starting with my typical “It depends”. How do you feel about the size of your current fuge? You could also string a couple sumps together. This can be a nice way to add a fuge chamber up front. Care should be taken to ensure you aren’t setting yourself up for heartbreak or floods when doing so...

Holiday BAR Event - Saturday, Dec 19

I have a friend from out of state who recently started keeping a reef. Would it be acceptable to invite them?
