Alternatives for Aiptasia killers

To kill an occasional aiptasia I first used Aiptasia X and when that became unavailable Aiptasia 1. Both are expensive and I don’t like the stirring requirement or consistency of the latter. Any other products (intended specifically for this purpose or not) that folks have had success with?

Try supergluing over it.

Aiptasia filefish but remove promptly if you have other soft corals! Follow up with a Molly milller from biota. They come really small & took 8 months but finally got rid of the last remaining one sticking its nose at me.

Thanks for the suggestions. I do have 2 aiptasia eating filefish but they either occasionally miss one or are lazy. I think I have a peppermint shrimp or two in there as well although I rarely see them. I will try the superglue.

How big is your tank? I can give you one Berghia for free. It’ll eat the Aiptasia for sure. Just PIF if you can catch it once all your Aiptasia are gone.

People say you can coat it with kalkwasser or use a syringe to inject it with lemon juice, vinegar or hot water. These kind of slot treatments never worked for me. It would kill the target anemone but it would show up again elsewhere. I currently have my Aptasia under control via a Copperband. The Copperband has also wiped out the spaghetti worm population. The worms never bothered me so I am somewhat sad to see them gone.

copperband butterfly helped me, only problem is that its very picky on its diet. unsure what kind of corals you have currently since it tends to nip, just make sure it eats mysis shrimps before purchasing it so it won't starve after solving your problem.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will first message @SupraSaltyReefer
Be very mindful of larger fish especially wrasses they would eat them, if you have wrasses maybe sneak it in after lights out. Just dropping it in would signal food to them, so also consider placing it on a rock or something.

I had a fun experience watching my XXL maroon clownfish swallow a peppermint shrimp i just dumped into the tank lol.

The right peppermints, yes. Saltwater Aquarium sells them bred thru ORA and they're only offered aiptasia as food there, so they know that's the food source. That's the easiest way. I trained my copper band on freeze dried mysis by using mastic and mixing freeze dried with frozen. Now I only use freeze dried thru the Avast Plank feeder... worry free on it's diet
