Looking good bro...all the way up to that fixie up top lol. I wish I was working with your space. I picked up an im30 for "QT" purposes and tried to set up a smaller low maintenance softy tank and almost got the boot from the wife haha.

Finally organized some tanks in my garage.
1. Top tank is Advanced Acrylics 31g at 48x15x12” for clownfish.

2. Middle tank is Advanced Acrylics 37g at 41.5x24x10” for fish observation and maybe shrooms.

3. Lower tank is Innovative Marine 30L at 36x15x13” for growing out Aiptasia lol.

I kept a road bike in my garage, near my saltwater mixing station. My experience is that fixie / single speed is gonna have a rekt chain and bearings :).

Also LOL do you have the LEDs mounted through the front wheel, :).

Ask her if she rather you have multiple small tanks or upgrade to one big tank haha

On 01/24/2026, I added an extension sump to my main system to create a dedicated space for growing macroalgae and acclimating fish. This also freed up room in my primary sump, making skimmer maintenance much easier and allowing space for additional equipment.

For the extension sump, I used a TruVu 20g acrylic aquarium (24" × 13" × 16"). I built a wooden platform to raise the tank high enough to provide proper clearance for the drain plumbing.

To drill the tank, I picked up a step drill bit on Amazon that covers 1/4" to 2-3/8" holes, since I needed to drill a 1-3/4" hole for 1" bulkheads. The drill bit is HUGE!

I drilled two holes for return lines so the water can gravity feed back into the main sump. Right now, the outflow from my AquaUV feeds into this tank. The flow is a bit on the weak side because I have to keep it slow for the AquaUV, but in the future I’ll probably add a dedicated pump so I can increase the flow and get the macro tumbling properly.

The extension sump has been running for about 1.5 months now, and it’s been a great addition. I also used it as an acclimation space for a Blonde Naso tang. It got nice and thick eating the algae I had down there. It has now successfully joined the tang gang in the display and paired up with my other Blonde Naso!

My Atomic Broccoli macro is growing really well, too. Now I’m on the hunt for Dragon’s Breath, does anyone have some available?

Oh man, this just gave me the idea of moving my refugium outside and letting sunlight cover it. Obviously need to prevent bugs and rain getting in, but would be free light.

I'd been thinking of doing such a thing to get my protein skimmer outside of my living room, but doing the fuge too would be double cool.

I watched a YouTube video where someone did that and put the extension sump inside a shed or one of those patio deck storage boxes. They would open the doors during the day to let light shine in. It’s a tempting idea!

Depending on the time of the year the temperature loss may out weigh the saved electricity from not needing to have lighting on the fuge.

I’ve done it. If you don’t have a large system. It will heat up really quick.

I don’t recommend keeping fish under that grow light
I don’t think the spectrum is good for them over a prolonged period

And do ya find that the chaeto grow actually helps??
I’ve never, and my chaeto grows like crazy

I only kept the Blond Naso under the grow leds for 2 weeks. It's doing great now in the display. ChaetoGro seems to be working. My Sprungs Burning Bush has doubled in size the past few weeks. I don't actually have any chaeto in my refugium.

How is the blonde naso tang doing?
Blonde Naso is doing great. New Blonde is the one with the streamers in the video. Seems to be the dominate Blonde tang now.

Change YouTube video settings to 4K for best clarity!
