is always a good thing. As visiting A&RD in Citrus Heights is not exactly a short drive to check out.

But the wife won $400 in their 13th annual anniversary celebration raffle. Our 90 gallon is going to get some really nice corals here in month. Made the 5 hour round trip worth it :)

What is this place?
Aquarium & Reptile Depot in Citrus Heights, a little east of Sacramento.

Wife and I are in Sacramento every other month for bonsai supplies. There is a nice bonsai supplier in South Sac.

the store front is a little bigger than Neptune. They are more fish and reptile than coral. Not a huge coral selection like Neptune, AC, or VA on corals. Half the store is reptile, and half aquatic. Their equipment selection is on par with AC and Neptune, They do have have a really large stock of AI and Eccotech products, also Fluval lighting and Hygger. Their tank selection is pretty dismal though, unless they have more in back somewhere. Neptune has the best tank selection I have seen. They did have a really nice live rock tank though, with a large selection of live rock.

When we were there the staff was friendly despite the store being packed to capacity. They handle the flow pretty well. Just know that you might have a 30 minute wait to get your fish. There is a line you wait in and eventually an associate will help you when done with their present customer. I thought the lines were just for their sale, but they have permanent signage so I would say it is how they operate.

Prices are on par with Neptune, AC, and VA. Worth the drive? Unless you are in Sac for other reasons not really. Cool to visit? Yup! But the wife and I have visited just about every fish shop in the Bay Area. We still need to hit SF, maybe next week. But we have been to Oakland, Livermore, Hayward, Santa Cruz, and now Citrus Heights.

Yeah that store gets super busy especially on weekends!
Aqua Life Aquarium In Rocklin used to have a great selection haven’t been there in a bit
Did you check out Exotic Aquarium in Sac huge 16k square foot store been a minute since Ive been there..Vallejo aquarium usually has good large colonies along with Sea Splendor Fairfield. Used to be a nice shop in Davis right off the freeway run by college kids not sure if there still around..
The Rock Shop in Vacaville is pretty cool like one of the largest in the country which has alota fossilized marine life..
Chapman's Gem & Mineral Shop in Fortuna a bit far but killer rare collections if you’re ever up playing in the tallest Redwoods on the planet!
Congrats on wife winning the 400!

We were going to check out Exotic Aquarium, but scared off by some of the reviews of them selling sick fish.

Thanks for the list! We shall check them all! LOL
