Hi everyone,

I’m considering purchasing a Waterbox aquarium and would love to hear real-world experiences from people who currently own or have owned one.

I’m especially interested in both positive and negative feedback

I love my WB Marine X110.4. Only moded the sump for my reefmat. No issues.

Love my WB230.6.. only issue is installing reefmat which isn’t straight forward, but not something that can’t be done.. I do see 2-3 bubbles INSIDE of the glass (not seams).. hard to capture on video, I will send to waterbox support to see if they think it’s concerning.

Also, they do have sales from time to time (15% off) so wait for the sale if you want to order (most likely 4th July sale coming next if nothing else sooner).. one big downside though is the wait time.. they typically take around 2-3 months after your order to deliver these tanks!

Which model?

On the older models I don't like their sump design. I don't like a how they designed so a portion of the sump was divided for the ATO. If you want to use a ReefMat you'll have to modify the sump and cut out some of the glass panels.

Innovative Marine RFS sumps sucks too.

I like my WB 65.4 AIO Peninsula tho.

On the reefmat. Using a fleece roller often impairs the effectiveness of a skimmer to a point where removing the roller after a while might improve your nutrient situation. This is apparently due to the material most rolls (not all) are made of.

Not defending the IMs or their sumps but many use a different sump with the IMs which is potentially the best combination. I never regretted buying my IM sump including the pre-cut plumbing - made everything so much easier.

Would be interested in any articles or links you have that a case study was done to come to this conclusion.

Same on where it shows it does help long-term with nutrient management.
I don’t want to hijack this thread. So I’m just going to stop here since I know we will have different opinions. I don’t want another thread debating nitrates and phosphates. We can agree to disagree and that’s okay :)

The mod to remove panel is not hard. Its just easier to remove before install. Redsea sells a kit.

My point was only that I would not decide on a tank and sump model - which is something you brought up - by whether it fits a fleece roller or not. But it makes sense to point out that the waterbox, or the IM sumps cannot accommodate fleece rollers properly, which they cannot (still some seem to be able to fit the reef mats in there somehow as per the IM forum on facebook).

And I recognize that our opinions differ. Most people believe the fleece filter is the solution for their nutrient issues.
