This will be my first frag swap. Is there any rule to how big the frags are? I have mushrooms, zoa's, and other beginner coral. I will try and frag 4 zoas off but they are not a bonus coral. Is that ok that there are only 4pp? How many mushrooms on a frag? Sorry for being so new.

General rule of thumb is give what you would like to receive. Basically try to be generous. Usually for common and or fast growing corals more is better.

Unfortunately right now it's not a thing that people can do. As I understand it on the somewhat distant horizon is an update to the forum software. If we are lucky we will be able to add that ability in at some point. For now you suckers that used your names are stuck with us all knowing your real name!

This is the thread you’d want to ask that in.

http://www.bareefers.org/forum/threads/2018-bars-swap-bonus-ultra-coral-list.22802/

I’m pretty sure the 1” growth refers to the length and not the girth. Feel free to ask in the other thread though. I could do wrong.

Yeah I realized that after i submitted the post and saw the last post date, but thought WTH and left it, thanks for the response, and i will also ask in the swap thread you suggested as well

Yeah, is a Red Planet even a bonus coral? But either way, if the frag plug is covered, I'd say that's 1" of coral

edit: just saw the list, apparently it is a bonus. My bad :D

Quick question - my frag offering pickings are slim this time around, so far being nephthea, cabbage leather, and ricordea. How should these be mounted, if at all, since people will likely immediately remove them from a mount? Since fragging, they have been chilling on discs in shroom cages.

If mounted leave them mounted. If you they are a xl coral what you need to cut to frag mounted or unmounted is fine.

I prefer mounted myself for ones I get. Though I have cages and can mount them myself of course. Some other not everyone will in deed cut them off a plug.

For corals i got from tbe swap I would personally cut the plate tile or disk small as possible leaving only the tiniest peice to give me a point to glue it to a new plug if it were a leather or mushroom. How every you bring g them as long as they are healthy and not on banned or fragswap entry prohibited list your good.

When I frag my leaters I do it ahead of time so they are attached to a new plug. This is only my personal way. Others have there own was as well.

In general what ever corals you will frag is best down at least 1-2 weeks in advance not the night before or day of. Gives them time to heal in the system they are already acclimated to giving them a much higher chance of surviving the shift to a new home.

Question:
Do we have to put the label on the plastic cup before we go to the swap? Or does BAR provide those standard label stickers to use at the swap? Thanks.

Best to label ahead of time. There may be some labels, but don't count on it. Blue tape works in a pinch.

Fine tip sharpies work well it what most people actually do

Another option if you have a printer is to grab some round label sheets I.5- 2 inches across (Avery brand is super easy to use and edit by going to their website and starting a template based on number listed on sticker package) they are normally less than $15 on Amazon. They could also be found at office depot and similar stores.

The cool thing about making your labels some of the members have gotten really into it and have even added pictures/ logos to them. Not required by any means but the sky is the limit with printing your own labels.
