    Co2 scrubber overated?

I promise you, your skimmer is sized too small for a 65 gallon tank to provide an effective amount of gas exchange.

Also, borrow to the CO2 meter if you’re curious how highyour CO2 level gets at your place. https://www.bareefers.org/forum/threads/borrowing-the-club%E2%80%99s-co2-meter.27051/

    Co2 scrubber overated?

For a 65 Gallon tank that tunze 9004 skimmer isn’t going to have much gas exchange occurring. You’re going to need a bigger skimmer to see much of a difference. Pulling from a humid place, e.g., skimmer, will allow the media to last longer because 1) water is required for the reaction with the...

    Sulfamine acid to clean pumps?

Never heard anyone using it for reefing. Usually used to clean tile, grout or stone. Also used for descaling and removing rust. Can be included in household cleaning agents. It’s a stronger acid than citric acid, but definitely safer than hydrochloric acid. But it can cause skin irritation and...

Questions about Elegance Corals! Tyree? Rare?

I’d be careful letting an elegance act as a host for clowns. Clowns can sometimes be a little aggressive with their homes and the sharp skeleton on an elegance and the amount of tissue that hangs over the skeleton can easily lead to it being injured, which in turn can potentially lead to fatal...

Torch Collectors - question on Holy Grail Torches

This is a no name, imported maricultured holy grail from Indonesia. Mouth is usually green. This looks pretty much like the “ASD” HG. From: https://www.bareefers.org/forum/threads/randy%E2%80%99s-innovative-marine-75-ext.32907/post-477559

Anyone have a BRS coupon code?

Might not help everyone, but I have a lot of old plumbing parts from previous builds saved. Get yourself a reamer bit if you do. I’ve reused many a Spears gate valve and unions. https://a.co/d/0bUDSVgA

    Red stuff acropora tips?

Other colors of coralline exist besides purple. Yellow, blue, grey and red. From others I’ve talked to, red seems to be on the rise in reefers’ tanks (of course this is a limited small size of reefers I talk to). I have red coralline almost entirely in my tank.

DBTC: SCOP (Sexy Corals Orange Passion) tenuis

Went on a two week vacation and came back home to a pretty nasty case of dinos (ostreopsis) in the frag tank. Added a 25W UW and did a black out for a few days and it’s mostly cleared up. Doesn’t look like the SCOP was affected by the dinos much, if at all.

    DBTC: PC Rainbow

Went on a two week vacation and came back home to a pretty nasty case of dinos (ostreopsis) in the frag tank. Added a 25W UW and did a black out for a few days and it’s mostly cleared up. Adam bomb took a color hit, but it seems like it continued encrusting.

    Richie's 48x24x12 frag tank

I’d switch out that clear tubing on the return line for dark transparent or solid color tubing otherwise you’ll get algae growth or maybe even coralline and that could potentially affect flow rate. Return lines look deep in tank make sure you have enough sump room to hold the excess when pumps...

Plumbing external overflow box Bean Animal?

Order doesn’t matter. The emergency and secondary just need to be wide open. Main drain should have the gate valve. Personally, unless you have a large tank (like 150 gallons or more) and need the extra flow, I don’t know if bean animal actually adds that much benefit over a single siphon and...

300 Gallon Tank Substrate Media Poll

That’s for anaerobic areas where oxygen is very low where anaerobic bacteria can survive using nitrate or sulfate to respire versus oxygen. Sand needs to be at least 3-4” deep to produce these areas. Most sand beds nowadays are less than 2” for that reason.
