    Ecotech Versa Issue

You are absolutely right, I had the max dosing amount set too low. I realized this earlier today. You’d think they could set up a simple alert! Thanks for chiming in. I love the Soles - they are awesome. The only shitty thing is the connectors are too tight and I feel a bad design, but this is...

    Monzer's tank restart

That PBT looks really terrible to me - was it dead for a few days when you found it or did it look like that at time of death?

    Ecotech Versa Issue

I used to love these pumps...now I despise them. I plan to replace this damn thing with a Hydros Sole. Right now the last one I have is on Kalkwasser duty - but the schedule will not update. I am adding volume to the schedule, but have realized that the amount dosed is not changing - even...

Filter roller - what's your take?

lol of course they did. You can't fit a single 1200 in your sump, let alone 2...

Filter roller - what's your take?

If that's your goal, then I think a filter roller is a thousand times better than dealing with socks. The Clarisea is also hang-on. There's also a smaller version (the 3k) and the Clariseas are smaller than the corresponding Red Sea rollers which are pretty large.

Filter roller - what's your take?

I don't think they have any impact on nutrient levels - all they do is keep mulm out of your sump. My corals had better PE when it was off so I removed it. Mine was a Clarisea SK-5000 - worked great. It's for sale if this thread convinces you to get one. :)

    Monzer's tank restart

.06 po4 is absolutely nothing to worry about. IME, po4 is always going to rise slowly if you are feeding enough - especially without a lot of dense coral growth. Expect to have to manage it with water changes, regular lanthanum dosing, phosguard, or some other method (most people would not...

Opinions on lighting and heating parameters

Like Austin says, you're gonna get a million answers - and that's because a million ways works. I have found that Corals generally are very, very adaptable to lighting. I run pretty crazy light in my tank, and can count on one hand the number of times a coral has been harmed because of too much...

    Derek's 225g - Magnifica / SPS Reef

Last shot of my Homewrecker from @boun11 before I frag it up for DBTC. Unfortunately the way it’s grown has totally shaded out the main stalk, which has died back where the light isn't hitting it: @Apon a couple update pics from corals on the MC group buy: Corals from @iani - Fox Flame...

What do you use to clean your sumps (and pipes)?

I would not plan to return any water you shopvac out unless your shopvac is brand new. You don’t know what junk has collected inside the tube even if you’ve done a good job cleaning the collector. It works great though- very fast and powerful. I would never use it in the DT though, but it’ll...

What do you use to clean your sumps (and pipes)?

I use a larger Mikwaukee, it works great. I bought an attachment to use it with a long reefer hose. I don’t know how anyone gets a decent siphon going out of the sump!

What do you use to clean your sumps (and pipes)?

I use a large cordless Shopvac…or at least that’s the plan if I ever do it. Too much micro fauna down there always makes me pause.

Nori feeder… what do you use?

How do you guys that do this keep it from getting sucked against the wave pumps? Mine ends up there every time in 30 seconds or less.

    100g+ Tank stand w/ wheels?

You can find casters that will support the weight, the question is can you or should you move it - water weighs 8lbs per gallon, so you're looking at probably at least 1000lbs with tank, stand, equipment...not to mention dealing with the splashing wave, pushing it out of level, etc. Maybe OK...
