Yes the Gyre kicked debris up and thus po4 rose. What made this possible is that I had placed the Gyre vertically rather than horizontally. This helped kick up a ton of debris. Also, I did not realize how many the dead spots I had in the tank until I add fuel saw the actual flow of the water.

I'll add some pics later.

I'd probably take it offline for right now, there's a risk you could bottom out fast. If it starts to rise again then you can run it a bit more. Just monitor with testing the next couple days then turn it back on

Does it matter if it's fish only in the tank for now?

Adjust the flow direction on both sides so their different to mix up the flow.. I run mine at 45 degree angles

Great example of how effective gyres are.

Each side of the gyre can twist independently so you can change the flow direction. Helps angling the flow around or through structures with more weaving current..Sounds like you have plenty of flow.. I also do randomly change the flow directions every couple weeks to mix things up..
 
Still work in progress. I have not taken down the dead coral skeletons yet. Probably add encrusting corals on them later. Will be taking my time before introducing corals.

Lesson learned... don't restart your tank and then go out of the country and expect things to stay stable while you're gone.
The phosphate reactor I had installed before leaving was working great before I left on my business trip. Mind you, brand new phosphate reactor and pump. I come back this this past Friday and long and behold the phosphate reactor is empty. :oops::eek:o_O:mad:. of course it was user error. I didn't choke the valve enough. The media was leaching slowly into the sump. Made the necessary adjustments. Will see what happens next week.

Current parameters
P4: .30
CA: 474
ALK: 10
Mag: 1391
Nitrate: 35
 
po4 at 0.059 isn't too bad since your no3 is 40. unless you mean po4 = 0.59, which still isn't too bad and can be fixed with more skimming or some carbon dosing to lower both no3 and po4.

PO4 is 0.59 and tested at Neptune’s and it was 0.60

I am just concerned that my PO4 has risen after I got it down. I think either the food, nori, or salt has enough phosphates to keep it higher.

.06 po4 is absolutely nothing to worry about. IME, po4 is always going to rise slowly if you are feeding enough - especially without a lot of dense coral growth. Expect to have to manage it with water changes, regular lanthanum dosing, phosguard, or some other method (most people would not recommend GFO any longer).

Any idea of the reason for why people are no longer recommending GFO?

Im getting old. I didn’t have my glasses on. PO4 is 0.59 and at Neptune is 0.6
