    Eric’s 150g resto project

I'm close, hoping to have it in the living room in a week or two! One of the big delays was the heat this summer, just made it impossible to work in the garage when it was 100+ in there - but I'm moving quickly now!

    Eric’s 150g resto project

It did unfortunately, big 'ol sharp, metal wheel wells! I was able to tetris everything in though, and brought towels, moving blankets + sheets, tie-downs - and everything else I could think of like a drill, sawzall (which came in handy, some bulkhead threads were stripped and others...

I got everything in one trip, had I not rented the actual u-haul it would’ve been multiple trips though!

    Alex’s IM 150 EXT

Had a discussion with Chad, Kenny, and several others about just this today. General consensus was, for lack of a better word f^ck that sh!t. Chad (Reef Nutrition) said pods don’t need it, they live primarily in the rock and on substrate, chaeto/algae reactors in general don’t matter. Kenny...

Featured Call for 2025 BOD Nominations/Volunteers

Tank tour would be fun! My wife did similar with the Lafayette Juniors, each month someone hosted a get-together at their place, where they worked on fundraising and donations for kids and women's groups, drank wine, judged each other’s kitchen, but actually did/do productive things for the...

    Eric’s 150g resto project

So I saw a post on one of my reefing Facebook groups, “Posting for a friend, free 160 gallon, custom built goes to whoever can pick it up soonest.” It included a wonderfully deceptive picture of its current state, that made it look clean and lovely. *Narrator: It wasn’t clean, nor lovely. So...

    Hydros Maven delayed

I have a hard time trusting any automated testing and monitoring equipment. It requires constant (human) monitoring and calibration. I’d use human medical monitoring and testing equipment as a direct comparison. It’s all fallible - could be hardware, could be software… could be as simple as...

Customer Appreciation Party at High Tide Aquatics

Thanks for a great afternoon Kenny! Really enjoyed meeting and talking with everyone, wish I could have stuck around longer, but had more berghia to deliver! I was very impressed with your fish and coral offerings, and you’ve got a great team of guys there. Also a big thanks to Chad from Reef...

Is Sps flat worms still a problem?

That’s rough, any easy OTC dip recommendations? Kung fu is great, but getting the necessary ingredients can be challenging.

I will never be able to look at an Oregon tort again without thinking “dragon dildo”.

    Dealing with hair algae

I’ve been waffling on adding one to the new 150g, probably won’t bother as I can always add one down the road if I feel the need.

    Dealing with hair algae

I have seen complaints of N03 and P04 bottoming, but every system is different so I guess you never know until you try! A supplier I know in Texas switched to scrubber only, did away with the protein skimmer and now swears by it…
