    blue ridge octocoral

Not sure. DD used to offer an aquacultured Millepora sp. It was definitely thin and branching like M. alcicornis, but I really have no idea what species it was. FWIW Charles has some Millepora sp. that grew out of a piece of Caribbean live rock and has now completely covered one of his...

    blue ridge octocoral

^^^What he said, about Heliopora and Millepora. They are both really easy to keep IOE. Anything from high to low on light and flow and they'll do fine. "Dirty" water is probably better than low nutrient tanks.

California Bill to Require Dash Cams and GPS Tracking For All Cars.

Seems there is a disconnect between the title of the thread and the content in the article unless I'm misunderstanding something. One says "require", the other says "allows". Would the bill really require all cars to get these?

Anybody have an old Berlin Airlift skimmer laying around?

    Thanks! Is it the Airlift?

Anybody have an old Berlin Airlift skimmer laying around?

I'm looking for one for a small tank at work. Normally I wouldn't ask but I figure someone's gotta have one of these collecting dust in their garage they'd rather get rid of. It has to fit in a corner behind our plastic backing so space is limited, about 4" x 4" footprint. Thanks!

    what wrasses would you add???

I'll have to disagree with Gresham on this one...the orchids are an exception to the dottyback rule. They can easily be kept in pairs or trios and are borderline peaceful. Really atypical for a dottyback. P. sankeyi is similarly mild mannered. Definitely agreed about the sixlines...mean...

The "Justin method" of algae removal (Hydrogen Peroxide 3%)

Thanks Jeremy! I'm also wondering about Aiptasia but guessing that it chews up peroxide and spits in back into your face.

The "Justin method" of algae removal (Hydrogen Peroxide 3%)

Sorry, maybe I missed it but what dilution do you use? Thank you oh master of aquascaping (but not necessarily master of bribery).

The "Justin method" of algae removal (Hydrogen Peroxide 3%)

Why do you need so many bottles of it? This is something you do a dip with right? I have a rock with some green star polyps and zoanthids with persistent red cotton candy algae on it. Think a H2O2 dip like that described above would nuke it? I would take care of it with herbivores but...

Automatic Skimmer Neck Cleaner - Yay or Nay?

I'll preface this by saying that I have never used the product but would probably be very happy to own one. Maybe it's written down somewhere, but how exactly are they quantifying what they are using to test skimmate production and skimmer performance to claim that it performs any better on...

Just busting your stones here, but weren't you the guy considering putting a Humu Humu trigger in a 120g?

I think there are a few triggers that would get along fine with butterflyfish (crosshatch, bluejaw, sargassum), but they all get too big to stick in a 120 long term due to their adult size and behavior (open water planktivores that need a lot of swimming room). Unfortunately there aren't really...

    jestersix 150G PlasmaLand

What we've found with a Li-COR PAR sensor is that the plasma at 50% is pretty much equivalent to a 400W MH in terms of light output, but it only uses 220W. At 100% intensity it more than doubles the light output of a 400W MH.

    Removal of Aptasia?

I've got the same problem with a colony. I keep half assing the kalkwasser to spare the surrounding zoas and the Aiptasia pops right back. Might be worth it to just bite the bullet and kill a couple zoas too. They'll grow back. If you do kill zoas, be sure to run carbon!

I want to work with fire

If you're getting 95% ethanol that will work too...but 151 is probably a lot easier to grab at Safeway. ;)

I want to work with fire

Anthony you may also try doing random things like throwing cinnamon powder or zesting an orange into the flame. Anything that has a lot of surface area. It makes fireworks...just be careful and don't overdo it! When I bartended we did random things like soaking cherries, lemon slices, etc...

Controlling pH via dosing San Pellegrino

Sorry, I misspoke a bit--ORP is useful for controlling ozone dosage on a minute to minute basis but TRO (Total Residual Oxidants, mostly bromine derivatives) is a more important parameter that ultimately should be guiding the dosage. It is TRO, NOT ORP, that kills/injures animals. The two...

Controlling pH via dosing San Pellegrino

Agreed, it is also a bad proxy for controlling ozone dosage.

    'Sea monster' Unearthed!

Crazy! But that graphic is super misleading...the whale in its jaws would have to be the world's most dwarfy baleen whale. Or a baby!

GFO Question - New Subject and Forum Move

IMHO you are wasting your money if you don't use a reactor. GFO is expensive stuff and should be used as efficiently as possible. BRS sells a very nice dual reactor...
