I give up, need a new RO/DI unit, suggestions?

Changing annually is probably safe, unless you're filtering a lot of water. Checking for chlorine in the waste line is the other.

I give up, need a new RO/DI unit, suggestions?

Mixed bed DI uses anion for the color change. This is because anion is the one that generally gets depleted fastest. This is the reason people say 3 stage di (cation/anion/mixed) is more efficient. With mixed bed only, you're throwing away half a canister of perfectly good cation resin every...

I give up, need a new RO/DI unit, suggestions?

You can actually test your waste/brine water as well, to check that your carbon blocks are working properly. Or you can ask...

Salt mix appears to be missing magnesium

And yet IO is probably used in more aquariums than all the other brands combined. Redsea also has issues with parameters off and on. People complain about fritz. I'm sure the others do as well. Your analogy is a little extreme. These manufacturers don't extensively test every bucket. They test...

Salt mix appears to be missing magnesium

Honestly, using any of these salts is playing reefers roulette. It seems like every couple months one of them has issues, and it's not just the inexpensive ones.

    Smell from brute containers

I have experienced this. Had no issue for years, then all of a sudden the water in the brute cans started doing this. I never did test for ammonia, which is a good idea. I switched to norwesco and haven't had the issue. Edit: I also was using instant ocean: RC when I started having this issue...

Are CO2 Calcium Reactors out of favor nowadays?

    Aptasia Eaters Peppermint Shrimp

Can't tell where they are in that pic. If on the sandbed, siphon them out. If on the coral skeleton, cover it with super glue gel.

Are CO2 Calcium Reactors out of favor nowadays?

Even if you're using coral skeleton, I would imagine this doesn't replenish all trace elements. I would assume coral tissue uses some different elements than skeleton.

Not yet, still just the 2. Going through some diatoms right now, but I'll likely start adding corals soon!

One power supply to rule them all?

Led drivers are different from DC power supplies for equipment aren't they? I realize you're using them for lighting, but I think they are meant to directly drive the leds? I think led drivers provide constant current?
