I worry about the amount of heat a 57w bulb will add to 40-60 total volume of water. Maybe it is not a real worry and your heater just turns on less? A really big skimmer like the Regal 250INT 10" runs on 35-70 watts.

You might consider getting a test kit like @Gabtron92 suggested. It helps remove some guessing. There are some solid alkalinity kits around the 15$ mark like Salifert on chewydotcom or at your local fish shop.

I used the santa monica rain2 successfully in terms of it growing turf algae on a 30g total volume and 85ish total volume system. Success in other regards, i don't know? I don't really measure nutrients. I no longer run the scrubber in hopes that more algae grows in the display for my herbivores...

Great pics as always! The mp10s stick for you? Did you have to get creative to get them to hold? I have some mp10s sitting around waiting for use... I think I gave up too soon on trusting they would hold on the glass thickness.
