makes sense about waiting to see where it'll settle.
The rule of thirds was agood point I got from Gary's talk which was full of good nuggets. My white balance still needs work but my tank (and rocks) are so blue/ purple the picture is still pretty close to the real look.
Jim- did you feed...
After the BAR meeting perusing Aquatic collection they had a carpet anemone that sparked my interest and after some contemplation & encouragement I took the plunge and got him. He's the haddoni species and so far doing well. The question I have is about lighting, knowing they take a lot of...
I went with 2 from Avast marine. there's a little DIY but pretty easy to do & worth looking into.

I'm with Mark- I have separate pump that feeds my GFO & carbon reactors. it makes it easy to control flow to each one and turn off/ on when i'm changing it out.
I've been hesitant to use bleach, but sounds like people do w/o issue. to eliminate the chance of residual bleach in the tank is the key a 2nd rinse, or air dry, or both?
I'm open to showing my tank- the downside is I'm in mountain view (about 1 minute off of Old Middlefield Exit) so it's not in the target cities, but if you need another tank my door is open.
I can show my tank, however I'm in Mountain View which is out of the way and likely too much driving considering you're starting in Pacifica and ending in Belmont.
Well thought out. 1 thing I'd advocate is having both a GFO and carbon reactor, both separately controlled- can be 1 pump with a Y-connector & flow valves. that way you can run some of each, and if needed doubleup on either if you need to.

If you're going to go low cost, look for a more reputable fixture that someone is selling due to tank breakdown or an upgrade. I wouldn't touch ones as cheap as this- too much risk IMO.
great way to aquascape w/ 2 different sized pillars, the clean look & spacing make it look superb! Not being overstocked with too many corals or rocks is a big plus.
I was there last weekend and I saw the huge selection of these- I found a bunch of really nice ones and eneded up getting 2. great pricing on these too!
I encourage you to go see other MP10s on other tanks,LFS or elsewhere, and you can better tell if our vibration amount is typical. If so, then you have nothing to worry about, if your vibration is more than others then something is wrong.
I went last year and had a good time there checking out new equipment, lots of coral vendors, speakers and yes, the mermaids were a pleasant surprise to my eyes. I'm going to try and make it down again.
