    Moving a new aquarium. How?

It's not solid steel but it's a steel stand wrapped in plywood. I think they are called steel square tubes¥ CDA recommended these pads and to cut them so they match the width of the steel frame. Thoughts? https://amzn.com/B06XGMYPJZ

    Moving a new aquarium. How?

That is what's written on the packing slip. It's likely to be less due to the crate. The stand was on a pallet and wrapped in cardboard so It's probably close to 400 lbs if I had to estimate the weight of the pallet and packing material. I have no idea about the tank. It's crated on all 6 sides...

    Moving a new aquarium. How?

The aquarium and stand have arrived! 620 pounds for the tank and 470 pounds for the cabinet. It was a surprise since last I heard from Crystal Dynamics, they were wrapping it but were unable to get it picked up. The freight truck arrived by surprise... The tank (in its box) weighs a nice 620lbs...

    Generator

From my understanding, this is no longer true for the majority of our appliances. Most electronic appliances now use switching power supplies, which are way better at converting bad AC to DC. Linear power supplies were very prone to breakage when generators emitted square waves or bad sine...

    Moving a new aquarium. How?

I think you're right :) I waited 9 months for this tank and it's still not here so all I can do is plan :) I'll report back here once I have received the tank.

    Moving a new aquarium. How?

I tried looking for a photo how CDA ships aquariums but I think they use a pallet. This got me thinking. Perhaps I'm thinking about this wrong and what I need is to rent tools to move a pallet? I wonder if it would be much simpler to just try to bribe the delivery driver to bring the tank inside...

    Moving a new aquarium. How?

Thanks everyone for your input. It's really nice to receive so much help. One thing to keep in mind is that the tank will be brand new and in a crate so I don't think we'll need the suction cups to move it up the stairs. My first instinct was to use furniture dollies under the crate to bring...

    Moving a new aquarium. How?

I can't help but think that 2 furniture dollies would be more appropriate since the tank wouldn't need to be turned on its end (Something CDA discourages) and I only have 2 small steps outside the house. No tight turns either.

    Moving a new aquarium. How?

I’ll ask CDA what they recommend. The tank was originally going to a different house with a right corner and they mentioned to try to minimize the time the tank is on its side Since the tank will be in a crate, I suspect furniture dollys might be more appropriate here. Thoughts? I attached a...

    Moving a new aquarium. How?

Something from U-haul or is there a specific model/style that is popular for tanks this size?

    Moving a new aquarium. How?

No stairs, the aquarium will be in the garage it goes to the office downstairs. We’ll need to bring it through the front door. I’ll circle back here once the aquarium is here. Thanks all!

    Moving a new aquarium. How?

I do have hardwood floors that are on a concrete slab. Thanks for the furniture pad idea! That way I won't have to remove the tank from its stand.

    Generator

If you don't have a gas stub outside, yeah, a plumber :( Many new houses have a stub outside for a BBQ. If you have a pool with a heater, you probably have a stub as well. But if you don't have one outside, a plumber will be expensive.

    Generator

Yes, my main use case is for transmission lines far away being affected by the wildfire. I've had several power outages, rotations, etc in the Bay Area but never a gas interruption. If there's an earthquake where I live, I do expect natural gas to be shut off as well. As for along long they run...

    Generator

I wasn't suggesting you prepare for the apocalypse or scavenge through city ruins to find fuel... Multi-Fuel is for convenience. All portable generators you'll find on the market will either support gas (for cars) or propane. If you think you'll be without power for more than 12 hours and don't...

Thanks, I'll reserve the suction cups once I find labor and my tank arrives!

    Moving a new aquarium. How?

Hi all, I have a new CDA 225G tank + stand coming in a couple weeks. How do people get them moved? My plan is to move everything in the middle of my office so I can do the build, then disconnect everything and move it to its final place (and reconnect the unions). I understand I'll need suction...

    Generator

I have a dual fuel (Gas + Propane) 120V generator. It works well but if I was to buy another one, I'd get one of the 240V tri-fuel one from Costco. - Trifuel (Natural gas, really, I wouldn't mind gas + natural gas) means that I can most likely get unlimited gas directly from my natural gas BBQ...
