    yaradartist's 36g

The tank is dry. It took several months of coral leaving to good homes for me to decide it is time to rest. Today I handed over the last few rocks and attached fragments of coral. Great to see animals I have nurtured doing well in other tanks, including The Steinhart. The LED turned...

crazy nudi or some kind of sea creature!

I found one on the bottom of a rock. It does eat snails. Can move very fast on the rock and 'pour' into tiny holes. Once in the water column it ruffles, so I thought I had an octopus from the angle through the tank I saw it and how close my hand was too it.

    Acrylic Cover for DIY LEDs

I mounted a 3/4 inch sheet of plywood under my heatsink plate and then hung the plastic clips used to mount mirror flat to a wall down from that. The plywood has one large hole cut out for the whole heat sink. My plexi slides in and out flush with the plywood for dusting. I left space for air to...

    Aquascaping Coral Compatibility Cheat Sheet?

In my rock paper scissors world lobos trump favids, that is if the favid falls into a lobo. Lobos melt florida rics in minutes rather than hours. In hours it was consumed. The ric was nearby and must have grown so close to be noticed as the lobo then 'spilled its guts' and fried the ric. I'll...

    Improved Color LED thread

My coraline fades out in color to a pale pink when it is in direct line of my LED. Under ledges it keeps its deep magenta color. I have never had fast growth with it under any lighting. I feel like it is bleaching the coral as in too much intensity.

Thinking about DIY LED need help + input please

I have been hesitant to jump in here because I knew so little about my own build. I completed most of the hands on work but do not fully understand the electric or computer components. As you see in the photos I am using the Reef Angel controller, and Roberto has been great at getting my system...

    60 Minutes on the reef

You are both welcome. I also saw a two part series streaming on Netflix last week. It showed some large non photosynthetic coral reefs in cold water, and a new to me methane fed bacterial food chain. 'The Blue Planet, The Deep'.
