    Quarantine

Are you medicating the fish at all? If it’s just observation and they were put in a sterile tank, 2 weeks *should* be enough to show any symptoms, but it depends on a lot of different things. 30 days seems to be the standard time for QT procedures for fish. It’s different for snails, crabs...

    Tank Spotlight January 2019

Oh man. That is amazing when it happens! Baby #2 for me took almost a year until she slept through the night.

Jeff's 75G conversion from FOLR to reef

Yes! This thread is way too light on pictures.

Heater boiled everything in my 100g tank.

Man. That’s rough. Sorry about the tank. The fear of this happening is pretty much the reason we got an Apex.

Starting up with a old reef tank

You can seed copepods with reef nutrition bottled pods. They have a few different types.

    Tank Flood

Ok. That makes way more sense. I bet that snail has been in there since Christmas.

Neptune’s has gate valves. Home Depot and Lowe’s should have them as well. And for the return line, you can use a ball valve too I think.

    Cruz Mc5’s family reef tank

LRS nano reef frenzy was all I could find. I got it at Neptune’s last weekend. That was the only LRS food they had. And thanks! I’m pretty happy with the start, but I’m bracing for some sort of disaster/challenge that I know is coming.

    Cruz Mc5’s family reef tank

Tank is still just chugging along. I added a cleaner shrimp and quite a few snails as I was getting well into the diatom phase. The snails have done really well on getting things cleaned up and the shrimp is a character. Also started feeding LRS. The fish all seem to like it, the shrimp LOVES...

    No quarantine!?!?

There are a lot of people that seem to think he is just lucky and hasn’t put a fish with the “right” disease in his tank, but I find that hard to believe. Assuming he’s telling the truth about the fish he adds, etc ... (and there’s no reason to believe he’s not), and the horrible state of the...

    New Reefer!

    Congrats.

    No quarantine!?!?

I don’t think anyone can dispute that he’s got a thriving tank and that his method works, at least for him. According to his posts, he’s added like 9 fish in the last few months. Some with visible illnesses, yet they’ve recovered and are doing well. And from others chiming in, it sounds like...

Usually you want the emergency drain to have no valve at all. The gate valve should be on the main drain.

    Cruz Mc5’s family reef tank

Yeah. It was our idea. And we talked about it and decided to give it a shot. I’ve seen other tanks that have done fine with 3 clowns. But like I said, we’ll keep an eye on them and are ready to pull one if it becomes an issue. I’m not sure I’d equate it to shooting up with heroin though.

They said it should be ok given their size/age, the fact that they’re captive raised, and then the size of our tank. It’s something we’ll keep an eye on and be ready to remove one if we see any issues, though. This morning when I ca,e out they were all sleeping together in a ball.

And here’s some really bad pictures of the fish. They all had to jump into this shot. Here’s the black ice clown with his blurry buddies. And a full tank shot. This was before lights came on so the corals are all pulled in.

Unless the water spilled out, it has to have been somewhere. I’m guessing the sump. I’d check the return pump and see if something got into or is partially blocking the intake.

Was the water level in your sump higher than normal?
