So your main drain was pulling water out too fast? Was there a change in your return pump? It seems like that’s the only way for your drain to suddenly be overwhelming your water input.

I guess it depends on what’s in the overflow box. I have an internal, which includes the return line. I think I’d prefer more space in the tank and not having my return lines go through the overflow.

Just did a complete round of tests. Ammonia - 0 Nitrate - 5 Phosphate- .08 Alkalinity - 8.9 Calcium - 435 Magnesium - 1500 (maybe higher)

So we added a green/purple hammer and an acan as well. So far everything has actually been responding nicely to the tank.

Hahahaha. Very true. Although it’s not the newborn I’m worried about. I’ll definitely try and make it out for a bit, assuming everything is going well. I’m sure my mom would love to come hang out with the kids for a bit.

Nice set up. I just started a tank with Fritz Turbo and was amazed at the results.

I would love to volunteer for this event, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to commit. My wife is due on February 4th, so it might be a little too soon to just leave her with 3 kids (4/2/nb). I’ll see what I can do though.

Maybe someone has a generator you can borrow? Otherwise get some battery powered air pumps for water movement and heat your house up before the power goes off?

I’d love to try it out if we can figure out a way to meet up. Right now I don’t think I’m getting enough flow to keep up with my skimmer.

Do you know if the fish was in any copper at the LFS? And do you know how long they had the 2 fish for before you got them? Only other thing I can think of is your ro/di water. Have you checked for chloramines? I can’t remember from your other thread, but given everything you’ve done, I’m sure...

Does the copper mess with the test kits? I thought I read that somewhere, but can’t remember for sure. Regardless of the cycle, it seems like 2 clown fish wouldn’t produce enough ammonia in 2 days to become toxic. For the tank transfer method, you go 72 hours and usually don’t have enough...

All of these options would be pretty difficult. I could swap to 1.5 inch pipe, but I’d have to reduce it at the bulkhead. Dual pumps would be tough based on the return line being in the overflow. And raising the sump would be hard given the setup. At most, I think that would gain maybe 2 feet...

I can hear my ro/di booster pump in the house when it’s running in the garage. If the Mag24 is fairly loud, it might defeat some of the purpose of having the sump in the garage.

I’d like to be on the list for this one. Probably not a good candidate for right now until my tank matures a bit though.
