I’ll be building a table top, just waiting until all the plumbing is finished to make sure I set the height right. It’ll slide in so that I can have complete access to the sump if I need to work on anything. I also need to run the ro/di lines better, but I’m waiting for mounting clips from BRS.

Made some more progress tonight. Added 2 valves to the return line so I can pump water to the sink rather than the tank. Should make water changes easier. Started mounting some of the electronics tonight. Got the apex power bar mounted, the skimmer controller, and the return pump...

Very cool tank. Sucks about the mandarin. It seems like they can be really difficult since you need such a high pod population. I’m hoping I’ll be able to support one, as they’re on my must have fish list.

Made some progress over thanksgiving and the last few nights. I *might* actually get it salty this week! I still have a lot of work to do with the electronics, but I’m liking the way things are shaping up. I’ve got the start of my mixing station done. Didn’t have a hole saw or a uniseal yet...

And then you need to double it, lol.

The trickle might be a little high. I’m thinking about plugging the hole and moving it lower to help it go to a full siphon earlier to hopefully not have to redo that part, as I’ll have to redo the bulkhead and I’m not looking forward to that.

I think for now just venting ... but it may come to a point where I need help. Maybe these pictures will help. After the bulkhead, I ran a 1 inch pipe up, and then reduced it down to 1/2 with a threaded reducer. Maybe not the best route to go, but space is pretty tight. It’s a bean animal...

You could probably even get them to do the cut for you as well. I think even Home Depot gives you one free cut.

Should’ve been more specific. I have 4 holes in the bottom of the overflow box (3 drain, 1 return). On the side of the overflow box there are 3 7/8’s inch holes where the return lines are supposed to go through (just below the teeth of the box). My overflow is an internal overflow that drains...

I really hate return lines. Like, seriously despise them. My tank has 3 holes drilled into the overflow box for return lines, and it is a serious pain to get them plumbed in. My latest idea is to use braided lines with barb fittings. And barbed fittings are absolutely horrible to put together...

Yeah. That’s what I ended up deciding too. I found 2 65 gallon water storage tanks that I ended up getting. Still probably more than I need, not super excessive. It will all be plumbed in, but I’ll have multiple unions so I should be able to pull them out and clean them as needed. For...

Nice tips @sfsuphysics. Thanks! My plan is to secure some of the rocks together, but not the entire structures to allow for easier removal. And at least for me (not sure about my wife, she’s been doing the bulk of the aquascaping and coral research), it’s really hard to envision it filled in...

Yeah. I’m personally not a huge fan of the rock wall. Its crazy how easy it is to make a tank that seemed big all the sudden feel cramped for space.
