    Ray's 125G Softie Tank

Yes, Green Hairy Mushroom. The large toadstool on the left was a frag I got from you. As are the two green fingers.

    Ray's 125G Softie Tank

The refugium is mainly filled with Chaeto but there is some smaller rock chunks in the bottom of the refugium. I think the coraline algae on the plastic makes it look like something else.

    Ray's 125G Softie Tank

I honestly have a very simple setup. I used to be into automating everything and always checking the levels of everything, but then work got really busy, so I moved into super simple mode. Mike (Coral Reefer) helps me maintain my tank, but I designed the tank and sump, setup everything...

    Male or Female Mandarin?

Is this a female red mandarin dragonet (Synchiropus splendidus)? She does not have the spike as shown on the male in the bottom photo, right? I am asking because I thought I read somewhere a long time ago that juveniles were hard to sex because the males develop the spike later, but I am not sure.

    Ray's 125G Softie Tank

Posting a little video showing where my tank is now. This tank was a cuttlefish tank for about a year then a seahorse tank for a few years. Now it's your basic reef tank with mainly softies. I have had the corals for a long time, but the fish have been added more recently.

    Yellow Tang Issue

They seemed to be working things out. Less chasing and the smaller one is getting out and about.

Anyone know a source of Botryocladia?

Also called Red Grape Kelp (sometime Red Grape Caulerpa but its not a Caulerpa). I see it out-of-stock on the few places online I used to get it. I used to have a tank full of it.

    Yellow Tang Issue

Feeding a lot: 3x per day with the addition of Nori every other day. No nipped fins yet, but I have seen the larger take shots at the smaller one. I don't releish the idea of trying to remove the smaller one as these tangs are super fast. I will keep an eye on it, but chances are I am going to...

    Yellow Tang Issue

After speaking to a few knowledgeable people (you know who you are), I added three same sized juvenile yellow tangs at the same time to my 125G. One was killed by my female clown (who is now in a different tank). So I was left with 2. They seemed find for a couple of weeks, but one of them has...

    I am in Orinda.

    Chaeto (morpha)

This was about 1/2 of what was in my refugium. If anyone ever needs any, I have it (although it has a fair amount of bristle worms in it).

    Substrate for Pistol Shrimp/Goby Pair

Trying to do some research on the a substrate that works for a pistol shrimp. About 4" of variable sized sand is what I am seeing. I don't see the perfect out of the box solution, but for my 30"x12" 29G, I am thinking about 15lbs of CaribSea SEAFLOR Super Reef mixed with 30lbs of CaribSea...

    Clowns Not Eating

The last couple of days they would only eat Selcon enriched adult brine shrimp and even then they would sometimes spit some out. I was therefore very much relived this evening when they aggressively ate Spectrum pellets and did not spit anything out. I am hopeful we are over the hump.

    Clowns Not Eating

I am going to keep them in their own tank from now on. She did not bother the mandarin or the shrimp, so I might make her tank a deeper sand bed tank and add a goby-shrimp pair. I have plans for the DT to add a fair amount of fish and she is too aggressive.

    Clowns Not Eating

Thanks for the reply. The water was from their DT, the same temp, and the filter was seasoned for weeks in the DT, so no water chem issues, just the stress of being moved. As of this morning, I cannot declare victory, but they are eating. I moved their "home" (a very large toadstool coral) and...
