Blue velvet nudibranch, anyone have experience for flatworm control?

I tried these but they always die after 1-3 days. I read they only live up to 2 weeks in aquaria depending when they were caught… seems they start dying as soon as they are caught. I think anything that gets phosphate in check will reduce the planaria population since they are photosynthetic...

Thanks for bringing these in. Not something you see everyday!

    Malaysian Acros?

The pieces they had for sale were from the same colony. *edit oops didn’t realize Robert already answered this one!

    Malaysian Acros?

I picked up two medium size frag/mini colonies yesterday. One is for @NanoCrazed so I guess he STILL beat y’all to it haha. I fragged one of the 2 into 3 pieces. All the pieces are doing well without signs of STN so far. I would say the color is interesting and will be fun to watch it color up...

    Chromis’s 90g Acropora tank

Yea it’s unbelievable how many brittlestars are actually in there!

    Chromis’s 90g Acropora tank

Is it possible that brittlestars are breeding sexually in my tanks? I think I’ve been finding baby brittle stars for some time - they are tiny colorless/white starfish. I have one tank where the brittlestars are getting seriously big but they are staying small in the others. And… this is the...

    SW food for FW fish?

But seriously I feel like I understand what Selcon is really for now, to convert FW fish food or frozen foods to be suitable for marine fish because unlike FW fish, marine fish can’t make EPA or DHA. How to use Selcon is another question. How many drops are you all putting in your fishes food...

    SW food for FW fish?

The reason I put the whole quote in there is because I didn’t want to read it and attempt to paraphrase it lol.

    SW food for FW fish?

FW and SW DO have different nutritional needs “Marine fish typically require omega-3 fatty acids for optimal growth and health, usually in quantities ranging from 0.5-2.0 percent of the dry diet. The two major essential fatty acids of this group are eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA: 20:5n-3) and...

    Undersize Skimmer with Fleece Roller?

Trying to picture this… so the RO line makes sort of a gasket between skimmer cup and lid? Because the noise was coming through that gap or the lid was rattling around…?

    Undersize Skimmer with Fleece Roller?

I’m of the opinion now that it’s beneficial to get a really good skimmer so it’s available for the times when you might really need it (something dies, accidentally dump something in tank etc) and the rest of the time, just run it only at night. Saves electricity and also no skimmer noise during...

What to do when pH is too high

Haha. I was more worried about the high pH being >8.7 but it’s more like 8.5 since the probe recalibration. I’m still planning to hook up my CO2 dosing and switch back to soda ash, when I did this before I’d have pretty good control of pH. The idea being you dose soda ash at night and CO2 during...

Looking for thoughts when you see stuff going wrong

Because GSP need good Mg levels and nothing else in his tank cares about Mg. So the GSP would be the first to go if Mg gets too low.

    I need a bigger container

Wait aren’t you QTing those fish? Or I guess since it’s freshwater you can put the deworming/etc meds right into the tank?

    Aggressive new fish

I had a cherub in my 5’ display that decided he didn’t want to share his tank with my clownfish and attacked them mercilessly until I rehomed the cherub. I think clownfish get targeted because they stay put and try to defend a small territory while other fish will learn to stay out of the...

What to do when pH is too high

The pH probe is in a chamber before the return pump chamber, I dose alk and Ca into the return pump chamber, so the additives should have some time to mix in the display before getting back down to where the pH probe is in the sump.

What to do when pH is too high

Just to follow up, recalibrated my pH probes and the pH isn’t quite as scary. It took a couple weeks for the pH measurement to stabilize after calibration. It had been exactly one year since the last calibration (using a BRS pH probe). The pH was off by something like .2

Looking for thoughts when you see stuff going wrong

I would check magnesium isn’t too low (for the GSP die-off issue).
