    Seeding a Sandbed

you might have worms and pods! where did you get your sand from originally? or your rocks? pods are pretty hard to see unless you have the right lighting. They're very shy!

    Carbon & Phosphates?

I'm using a waterfall. I didn't discover the UAS scrubber until after I had built mine.

    Carbon & Phosphates?

proof is in the pudding. i use no additives anymore, water hasn't turned yellow, tank hasn't exploded, and my phosphates are at .02, and nitrates negligible. I also have a nice healthy culture of pods growing nearby it too! My skimmer has only pulled 1 cup of skimmate in the last 2 months...

    Carbon & Phosphates?

ah, i suppose the algaeX treatment wouldn't be very friendly to an ATS! :)

    Carbon & Phosphates?

nav, why are you still running all those additives? Is your algae scrubber not doing well? my ATS keeps my phosphates and nitrates lower than i ever could with those media

    Temp drops

Nav, you should be able to fit a 300w in there. I have mine sitting in my sump diagonally. (longest distance in a rectangular solid is the diagonal!) also as mentioned earlier, you have to make sure your heaters are all active at the same time, otherwise our 3 heaters act independently and you...

    Temp drops

I have 2 300W heaters for my 55g. They're not always on, and 1 is mainly a backup just in case the other were to die. You might want to just get one of the more powerful ones instead of the little ones. Or turn up the heater in your home.

Hi all, With the impending storm coming in, they are expecting power outages, very high winds, flooding, etc. I thought I would start this thread. Here's a short article on some things you can do if you dont have equipment to keep your pumps running...

    Please help! (tank maybe crashing)

my opinion... i would get rid of all those chem bags for a while, keep up with frequent water changes, and add a bunch of carbon to help remove anything that could be in the water. I've had trouble with all those chemicals. Now I run only the ATS and carbon, and I finally have all of my corals...

    Xenia Outbreak

cut them, then put a little superglue over the base. That would be my best recommendation to help control the ones you don't want. Get them while they're still small! I do this for my green star polyps. I love them, but they would destroy my entire tank if I didn't keep them under control...

    Xenia Outbreak

Take the rock out and boil it. Be rid of them forever! I've also superglued over them. Make sure to completely cover them or they will be back.
