Do you use a 10ml syringe or just fill it to the mark on the bottles? I’ve been using a 10ml syringe and my numbers have been consistent when I had to retest a few times using different bottles.

In my experience early in the reefing journey when I had 20ppm NO3 candy canes didn’t do well at all. 1ppm PO4 seems high also. Could be just those two parameters or combination of things like @rygh said chem warfare. It would be good to change one thing at a time and wait a week or two to see...

I do daily dose. 10ml a day for 43g tank. NO3 staying less than 1ppm and PO4 0.03ppm. I also feed a lot. Run skimmer 24/7 and fuge with Chaeto 6h at night.

I second this! Since started AB+ my alk consumption went up by about 30% and things looking great and growing. I dose about 10ml daily for my 43g total volume tank. I keep NO3 to less than 1ppm and PO4 about 0.03ppm.

Thanks @max_nano for all that guidance! If it’s just cycled do you know your parameters? I’d try with soft or LPS corals first like zoa or duncan or something like that if you haven’t. If you know your parameters are relatively stable however you keep them let me know and I’ll trim this for you!

Are corals otherwise looking happy? If hair algae is the only issue, I’d start with manual removal, leaving skimmer and fuge on. Then maybe add some CUC. If you turn skimmer and fuge off, that would just leave more organics to turn into NO3 and PO4, adding fuel to the DT where you have the light...

I use nyos for NO3 and Hanna checker for PO4. I used to use API. Nyos I like much much better. Easier to compare. Haven’t used anything else tho.

They could read zero due to margin of error as well as algae consuming NO3 and PO4 almost completely so your tests don’t detect any.

I use the same and it grows my Chaeto like crazy. @Hamada too I think? :)

Just a thought... can you measure how much each drop from say an airline tube and make a knot to adjust the frequency of drops?
