OK, so then who here buys earthquake insurance?

I did the analysis and figured it was not worth the money. You get a high payment and crazy high deductible. Remember in many cases the value is in the land not the dwelling. Also the insurance company will look at any way to screw you if they can. Finally, the replacement of you house today...

How close is your tank to the wall behind it?

have mine on an angle to the corner of the room so there is a triangular area behind the tank. The edges are very close to the wall so the only access point is through the stand.

super reef octopus 1000 or 2000 internal

If you think the 2000 is a beast, you should see the 5000. I don't seem to have the noise problem though, but it is in the garage.

    Aussie wild acropora

I am always iffy now on whether I sould frag a wild colony right away (in the few instances when I go wild corals). Part of me says to frag them to get another piece in someones tank or to move to another area, and part of me says it is best to leave it alone for a while as it is going through a...

    Aussie wild acropora

I would start it lower and work it up into the light. If it is indeed bleached, I would expect you will see a change over the next couple of months. Wild colonies are always a crap shoot. Almost lost the SSC when I first got it as it started to RTN within 48 hours. i

    Roti-Feast

I don't think it is too much light by any means. Looking at the position of your SPS in your tank (nearly on the bottom) and your light cycle (6 hours with 250w MH's) you should be fine. All of you water params look good. My initial and totally spectulative suspicion is that it either has to do...

    Roti-Feast

Ok so first thing I will say is if you think your nutrients are too low, you shouldn't be running GFO. For that matter, not sure that it even makes much sense on a tank as young as yours. running to a meeting will chime in a bit more later.

Take what you read in that forum with a grain of salt, heck in any forum for that matter. There are several people that know what they are talking about in there but plenty more that have no friggin clue but to repeat bad information they have read before. Be suspicious if people give a quick...

I have the 5000 cone skimmer running on my some 275Gish system. Had it about 6 months and been very happy with it. The only issue with the space saver versions is that they are harder to clean. I have the regular version.
