Lucky Week + Overflow Cover Question

I'm close by @MolaMola. Once you nail down final dimensions you can send me the STL I can cut it out on the CNC. That's unless someone in the area can 3D print? I should have enough scrap acrylic or ABS laying around to cut covers for both sides.

Any experience with BRS Pharma/Balling hybrid method?

I'm trying to bump pH a little using the lye instead of soda ash. I got that from this thread on R2R: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/second-new-diy-two-part-recipe-with-higher-ph-boost.357080/ And yeah, you should definitely take care when using it. Safety goggles and gloves at a minimum...

Any experience with BRS Pharma/Balling hybrid method?

I forgot to mention that I'm only adding a fraction of the trace elements at this point. I only have a few small corals in the tank right now.

Any experience with BRS Pharma/Balling hybrid method?

I switched over to this about a month ago except for the soda ash part. I'm using sodium hydroxide instead. The concept makes a lot more sense to me but I can't really say much other than that after only a month in.

Power outage later this week - any tips?

Buy, borrow, or rent a small generator for the day just to be safe. Some Home Depots have rental departments along with your standard general equipment rental houses. United Rentals, Hertz, Cresco, Sunbelt, etc. A 2.0kW should be enough to keep the basic life support systems going. If you...

    Free Coral!!

Nothing yet. There are a couple of small divisions at the base though. You can't really see them in the pics. I will try to post some close up pics tonight when I get home.

    Free Coral!!

I’m guessing some sort of xenia coral but I’m not really sure. Definitely not a leather though. It’s a very hardy coral and it grows super fast.

    Free Coral!!

This thing has to go. Thought I’d offer it up here first before I toss it. Came in on a frag of another coral about 6 months ago or so. It’s between 8” and 9” wide now. Pick up in Oakley or Martinez.

    RO system troubleshooting

Make sure the o-rings and seals on the membrane(s) are still there and properly seated. If the new flow restrictor doesn’t work start checking the membrane housings for hairline cracks inside where the membrane seats.

Glass tank move April 9 Boulder Creek

See if you can slip a little extra $$ to the delivery crew and maybe they can move it into the house for you. Take the door(s) off the hinges to give you a little more room to get it through.

    Vincent's Office tank

Looks good! I’m anxious to see what you do on the aquascape with all that room front to back.

Is there an outdoor usage for old dirty sand?

Pile it up in the backyard. The neighborhood cats will thank you for that :)

    Charlie’s 150

Good idea. I think I'm going to cement a few pieces together to make an arch up to the rock structure on the right. After I do that I can start soaking it in a Brute for a while. Some of the rocks came out of the tank when I crashed it but some are new and I have no way of telling the...

    Charlie’s 150

I've been thinking about that. Especially in the middle area. More for somewhere to put corals though. The biological filtration is too good right now. I'm having to dose phosphate and nitrate a couple of times a week to keep them above zero. More fish should also help with that. I have...

Mike - I would love that. Maybe in a few weeks or a month I can make a trip out to see you or we can meet up somewhere.

Erin! You're still here! Good to hear from you again and thanks. Do you still have all the tanks in the back yard??

    Charlie’s 150

Thanks, John. I've upped the feeding quite a bit since early December. 2-3 cubes of various frozen foods daily. I just started to add live phyto feast daily about 3 weeks ago. I spot feed the corals about once a week with a mixture of the usual powered coral foods. I have the anthia eating...
