I don't think location matters as much as quality. Our F/R circuit goes from here (Martinez) to Rochester, NY and we have no problems with speed. For this site with it's limited traffic a shared host should be plenty. The only question would be DB size but I still don't think it'd be a...

    Craig Bingman Chemistry Articles

I tried that too. I'll do it from home tonight and see if I get the same error. It's probably something with the proxy or AV at work.

    Craig Bingman Chemistry Articles

Anyone else getting a "Reported Attack Page!" error when accessing this link? I missed the meeting and wanted to read some of these articles but can't access them right now. ~Charlie

I looks like it's getting hosed up in the DC. Quite possibly a DNS issue but could very well be a DC issue too. If we're sharing a VPS it could be another VPS on the same box using all the resources but in my limited knowledge of VPS servers they should be limited to their allocations. If...

    New Forum Add-ons

How about one of the variouys blog add-ons for tank journals? Don't have a lot of time to look at each of them but thought that might be a good way organize the tanks journals.

Dirty socks ... how do you do your laundry?

When I was using them I would wash them with bleach. I would run the load with the "Extra Rise" and "Water Plus" buttons selected on the washing machine. I would also run them through a 2nd time time on a quick wash cycle also with the water plus and extra rinse. I tossed em in the drying...

    Learning Electronics?

I was being somewhat silly with that question but it is one of the things that kind of sparked my interest. I wanted to be able to put the mental picture together when someone talks electronics like that. I'm close! The Dummies book I picked up is actually a collection of 4 or 5 smaller...

    Learning Electronics?

I have been working on a revised wifi interface for the RA utilizing ExtJS but I kind of set that off to the side a while back to focus on other things. I need to dig the code back out and revisit it though. In the grand scheme of things I wanted to use that as a base for another project that...

    Learning Electronics?

Does anyone have any recommendations for a place to buy just a basic electronics kit without Arduino/Raspberry Pi? For the book I picked up I have a shopping list of various resistors, diodes, transistors, ICs (555 timers and LM741 op-amps for now) and capacitors. And a breadboard or two. I...

    Learning Electronics?

Can you run a web service on the Pi? That's one of the things I see lacking in the Adruino now. If you can run the Arduino from the Pi along with a web server to configure/control/log info I can see that being useful.

    Learning Electronics?

Denzil - I like that idea for sure. The reason for leaning towards Arduino was certainly because of the RA but I'm really looking a this form a hobbyist's perspective. I'm sure I can extrapolate what I learn hands-on with a Raspberry Pi to work with an Arduino as well. Like Mark said above -...

    Learning Electronics?

Thanks for the input, everyone! I picked up Electronics All In One for Dummies on the way home today because that's all they really had at my local B&N but I was looking for the Make: Electronics book. Had a lot of good reviews on Amazon. Mike - Yep, I wanted to tinker with making my own...

    Learning Electronics?

I asked this over on the RA forums but I know we have a few electronics gurus here too. If someone wanted to learn more about the electronics, specifically the Arduino, can you recommend any good books to get started with? I kind of need to start at the basics and work my way up from there...

Max operating pressure for ASO valve?

That's exactly what mine dose! That's when I get the bleed-through and start wasting water. It's not a lot of water but more than is needed in any case. That's what I've been doing. When I hear the pipes/ASO rattling I go out and shut off the main valve. Worst case I might forget for a...

Max operating pressure for ASO valve?

So almost a year later I put one of these Home Depot Pressure Regulators in-line to bring the pressure into the the RO system down to ~50 and the ASO is holding how. It's a pretty slick little regulator. The garden hose fittings can be removed with an Allen wrench and leave you with 1/4"...

    Help for the color blind!

That would be cool if you could do that. I'm thinking that the standard is spot on. I believe David said they had it lab tested. I'd like to know what the various test kits are reading. I'll test my Red Sea kit tonight when I get home. ~Charlie

Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer bug spray…to treat red bugs and other pests.

Mike - I need to check my dip tubs when I get home for the dosage. I know I use 18mL of Bayer but I can't remember how much water. I'm thinking it was 2L but want to confirm tonight. ~Charlie
