Mike and Ashley's 150g reef tank (our first)

OK, thanks Vincent for coming to my rescue and getting the system running and everyone who offered advice. We still needed some additional assistance and neptunesupport played with it quite a bit today to get the display and all systems aligned. Hats off to those guys as well. Apparently I am...

Mike and Ashley's 150g reef tank (our first)

OK, several hours of frustration on the Apex unit and I can't get it to run. I followed all the instructions and it is loaded with 5.20_5A17. However, under modules it shows the Energy Bar and FMM are old rev's. I just bought it and loaded everything like it said. Anyways, nowhere can I find on...

Mike and Ashley's 150g reef tank (our first)

Thanks! I'll try them both on the right side. You enter the room and see the left side, which is why that it the low rockscape side, to give perspective through the tank from that angle, then from the room it is left side or straight on. You effectively can't get to the right side. I'll put the...

Mike and Ashley's 150g reef tank (our first)

I have 1" - 3" between the back wall and some of the rocks to enable flow. Here is a shot down the back wall. I'll head up to Neptune and pick up some of the 4" ones today. I have room in the refugium for 2 of the 4" ones. Thanks for the advice!

Mike and Ashley's 150g reef tank (our first)

Thanks. I prefer the more open structures so I'll start here. I am planning on running either two of the 8" x 8" x 1" blocks or one 8" x 8" x 4" in the refugium. Think I should run two of the 4" blocks just to be on the safe side? Does Neptune or any of the local shops carry these in stock? I...

Mike and Ashley's 150g reef tank (our first)

Too many questions, not enough progress? We'll as with everything so far I've learned in this hobby and I don't even have water in the tank yet, it takes way longer than I anticipated to complete a task on the tank/equipment side. I finally finished my aquascaping - likely due to my process was...

    Quarantine tank setup?

Thanks all! Great input. FYI - Derrick is in the process of setting up a new tank, so he has very limited fish available for the next 6 months.

    Quarantine tank setup?

Thanks. All of us really want an anemone/clown pair - divers, go figure :). Just looking for one anemone and then mostly LPS and some compatible fish. Some private input was also to get the anemone early, let it walk around and find a happy place, and then place my coral based on where it stops...

    Quarantine tank setup?

I don't mind driving at all - a small price to pay for getting "good" fish I hope to have for a very long time. Here is where I am at: The tank is getting water this weekend I am using Dr. Tim's One and Only The skimmer will just be starting up this weekend Everything needs to cycle I plan on...

    Quarantine tank setup?

Thanks. So much for the internet.............. What I can find it says the H. crispas and M. doreensis need a deep sand bed, is this true ( I see images of H. crispas on the web in bare bottom tanks)? I am only planning on having a 1 - 1 1/2" deep sand bed. Also, everything I read says you need...

    Quarantine tank setup?

Thanks Vincent et al, Leaning towards percula clowns. From what I can find, the natural hosts, H. crispa, H. magnifica, S. gigantea, and the H. mertensii are all listed as aggressive, expert-only, and grow quite large. Thoughts on a best-try host anemone for a pair of perculas that a noobie...

    Quarantine tank setup?

Thanks! Do you use the Seachem Prime in the ratio recommended with each water change in the QT tank, and then just as required for maintenance after the first 12 days? Would a third similar "coral only" tank set up the same way be acceptable for corals? Dip in ReVive a few times and let sit...

    Quarantine tank setup?

Hi All, Noobie here. Almost ready to put water in the DT. Doing a two tank quarantine setup so I have something to put in the DT when it is cycled. I have two 10g tanks (thanks roostertech), two heaters, multiple air stones/line and an air pump. I plan to follow TTM with tank swaps every 72...

Mike and Ashley's 150g reef tank (our first)

Hi All, Tank move went very smoothly. Thanks everyone for the help. Vincent, thank you for the assistance and advice, it was very nice meeting you. The plan is aquascaping and water over the next few days and start the cycle. Do people tend to put anything under the rocks - between them and...

Mike and Ashley's 150g reef tank (our first)

Down to 2 guys from Neptune but I have 2 friends confirmed plus myself is 5, so no one needs to go out of their way to make it. We should be fine. That said, 6 would be awesome and make for balanced / light lifting, and anyone else is welcome to join for a beer, play commentator, and give me...

Mike and Ashley's 150g reef tank (our first)

This Sunday didn't pan out with lining up assistance. I have 3 guys from Neptune coming by tonight (7/20) at 7:30pm with their tank dollies and suction cups (plus me) and we are going to make a run at moving it. Sure could use 2 more bodies if anyone is around for redundancy / make it easier...
