Yes, optical sensors are very sensitive but I think one of his problem is that he only has a high level. So there is no failsafe. Probably best to have a HH setpoint with a control switch as a failsafe too.

Maybe try ultrasonic or optical level sensors..Not sure whether there is one compatible with apex or perhaps need to wire out something.

You are right. That is how people move big furniture pieces or pianos in Asia up several flights of stairs. Of course be careful with it.

Thank you. I could remove the galvanized pipe but if PVC coupling is a bad idea, is it easier to cut a section of that pipe, put a dielectric coupler and move to copper line? In case I mess up the other galvanized fittings (that you see at the bottom in the pic).

Yes for now I swapped the return and drain due to the size of my overflow. My return is on the left hand side where my weir is. I bought 2 gate valves and an acrylic jig saw blade. Will try to create a weir on the original return chamber. Will plumb the tank again this weekend.
