I would say no matter what they tell you at the store you went, a hippo tang should not be in a 25 gallon redsea tank, and it certinally shouldn't be there for 3 years unless you are attempting to drawf it's growth, stress it out and trying to kill it.....

I would use test kits to see when you think the tank is ready, then add a dead shrimp to the tank to see if the cycle can handle a small ammonia spike, if it can then you are ready for fish or corals, with "pre-cycled" rock this could happen as soon a month or so, but "pre-cycled" is really only...

you know with weekly water changes, dosing once a month will have basicly no effect, you would be better off to devide what your dosing monthly to daily, but I am willing to bet your not getting the results you desire dosing 1 time between every 4-5 water changes
