Can also place your jug in hot water. Yesterday, I had the same problem, and the hot water helped (in addition to shaking the heck out of it). Heated water in a large pot, and placed my 1 gallon jug inside for about 10 minutes.

Mike, have you thought about adding a light hanging bar to your stand? Check out the thread for sfpatentcat's Solana tank journal for an example ... should be able to hang hoods or pendants from such a fixture.

Con & Mario, I hope you are both OK; scary experience. I remember a thread a couple of years ago about a hobbyist in southern Cal who decided to boil a couple of rocks to get rid of nuisance palys. His family got really sick from the airborne toxins.

Some of my more established vermetid snails have developed a cool spiral shell. I do know a dentist who might give me an old tool. Which one do you use to open the shell? Too bad my tank is too small for wrasses.
