    Bolick's 55gal mixed reef

Stylo has been closed up for a couple of days - no tissue loss, but confusing... all other SPS doing well. Had a small Alk swing (9-10.5 over 2 weeks) and large phosphate swing (0.01-0.2). Likely that the PO4 swing did this?

Frag Tank, Sunlight, PAR meter usage

Re. consistency - Than of Tidal gardens (coral farmer) used to grow with some natural light in a greenhouse - some of his corals would suffer from the winter-summer variances.

Frag Tank, Sunlight, PAR meter usage

Sorry, I forgot about that part of the video when I posted it. Definitely tragic.

    Bolick's 55gal mixed reef

Wrasse seems to eating again! I just dosed the second round of prazi - Wrasse emerged, took a gross white poo and is acting much more "normal" - i.e. hunting the rockwork for pods and eating small amounts of frozen food. Maybe there's still some hope! Body condition is still quite poor.

Frag Tank, Sunlight, PAR meter usage

I kept my QT tank in sunlight - the algae growing on the glass actually zero'd nutrients, which was nice in that QT scenario. I remember this 400 gal sunlight tank - Looks really nice and natural, but the corals look a little brown.

Speaker talk: Russ Kelley on Coral Identification - Sat 2/5 4pm

You could do coral 18s rRNA sequencing for probably about $100-200 per pop, for just identification...

Yep, mine were testing similarly when I lost mine unfortunately. It also took ~2 weeks to die.

    Med to kill off bristleworms?

Looks like there's actually a decent amount of ecotoxicological studies of polychaete worms (i.e. this one) Perhaps we can find an ecotoxin that doesn't harm aiptasia! So far, I've found copper and cisplatin as bristleworm killers, but neither are very practical for your purpose.

    Med to kill off bristleworms?

Prazi at a therapeutic fish treatment level didn't affect my bristleworms. I wonder whether a biological control might work - some anecdotal reports out there of arrow crabs eating bristleworms.

    Bolick's 55gal mixed reef

Yep, not looking too hot... I've tried prazi, does not seem to have done anything. Regrettably planning to euthanize if things turn worse. It's stomach is very pinched, and it's swimming is a little disoriented.

Definitely a bummer :( How confident are you that the tank is fully cycled? Early on I lost a clown suddenly as well, and suspect it was due to incomplete cycling.

In my experience, fish often succumb to something else first, then get sucked onto the powerhead. If you're concerned about this though, you may want to put an anemone guard on the MP10 which will prevent small fish from getting sucked in.
