    Pressurized kalk reactor

I have hydros. Yes , everything will be automated , with water level sensor and leak detectors link to the hydros controller. I feel pretty comfortable with the setup. Especially all the equipment in a bucket.

    Pressurized kalk reactor

Thanks. I look into the reefcan a while back. I have my ato plumb to my RO. It’s nice that it’s slim and such but not much room to add a float sensor . It save maybe an inch or two in width which doesn’t buy me much. My 5g Home Depot bucket works well. Kalk reservoir is another story. Reef can...

    Pressurized kalk reactor

plan is to fill in the morning in a single fill, turn in the stirrer for ?? mins, and dose at night. I like the idea of filling less than extracting. I think 5ml less is safe enough given that I do plan on adding kalk weekly. The reservoir should have 2L Buffer before overflowing to the main...

    Pressurized kalk reactor

Bought the parts. Let’s see how well this works. Basically a dosing reservoir + magnetic stirrer and 2 dosing pumps. In theory it should work. Let’s see

    Pressurized kalk reactor

Love this idea. If I put the kalk stirrer in my current bucket, it will be the fail safe / insurance if the flow is imbalance due to equipment failure. I have plenty of dosing pump, what’s another one. I’m thinking diy the kalk stirrer in this setup. A 2.5L dosing reservoir sitting on top of...

    Pressurized kalk reactor

Good idea but I don’t have a sump, so I’ll need a pressurized container . I’m afraid to DIY because of leaks.

    Pressurized kalk reactor

Dosing pump. At peak ( before I lost more than half my corals) my tank is consuming 4+dkh a day. Now it’s 3ish.

    Pressurized kalk reactor

65g tank, 1.5L kalk at night. Hmm come to think about it , it should last 7 days. Something is off. Yes I have a separate ATO. I could covert the ato to kalk but I get a bit nervous on stability as evaporation is not different .

    Pressurized kalk reactor

I have a 4g bucket for kalk. Won’t last a full week. I tend to forget to refill midweek. Ideally a 10g reservoir would be best, but I don’t have room.

    Pressurized kalk reactor

I think that’s how most kalk reactor works. I don’t have a sump . I guess I have to find another way.

    Salinity still a problem

Where are you located? Some local reefer can easily help you test your water .

    Pressurized kalk reactor

Trying to the lazy. Is there such thing as pressurized kalk reactor? I don’t have a sump. Hoping to have a kalk reactor so I don’t have a mix kalk every 5 days something like a canister filter ( for mixing kalk) I can put under the tank. Is there such thing?

    Salinity still a problem

I haven’t heard rock holding on to salt. Did you make sure all salt is dissolved before doing the water change? Easiest way is to scope a gallon or so water from the tank and replace with RO water. I suspect you can safely drop 0.02 every 6 hours.

ICP test of available for purchase natural seawater

You need need to heat and circulate the water before use? Otherwise they can store outdoor?

ICP test of available for purchase natural seawater

What’s the best way to store something like 100g NSW? Can you leave it in a container outdoor? Do you need to a circulating pump running all the time?

(New) Quanta Lights (ATLAS, Helix) controlled by a Hydros Controller

Have anyone compare the offering from Orphek versus Helix? https://orphek.com/or3-hybrid-reef-aquarium-led-bar/ I'm mildly interested in LED bar to get better coverage.

(New) Quanta Lights (ATLAS, Helix) controlled by a Hydros Controller

I have Reefi . I don’t understand the motivation to ‘upgrade’ besides just want to get something new. Do you have shading problem? My first gen Unos are getting old and eventually I will need to replace them. Following this thread to get some ideas I pickup a used reefbreeder photon as...

    Droopy coral

I should elaborate more. Once you pass initial tank cycle , unless you have a major fish/coral die off, it’s unlikely you’ll have ammonia issue. Per your description, your tank is 2.5 yrs old, way pass cycle . As for ph, it’s the last thing you need to worry about. Unless you are doing kalk...
