    Musing on coral coloration

Yup, understood. Just a mental note to myself to be careful with Alk when changing water. Might be one of the factors that might cause corals to stress out in a timely manner (each WC) and thus prevent optimal coloration.

    Musing on coral coloration

Thanks @Chromis. I can try increasing my water change volume and maybe going light with the filter media. One thing I generally ignore is checking the Alk of the freshly prepared saltwater. I'll start doing it more and observe if that makes any difference.

    2018 CFM official thread

I highly recommend maintaining a digital list of membership sign ups. I can set it up if required. Something we can improve from our past experience.

    Musing on coral coloration

Pretty much 0. Again, I have the flaky API kit for phosphates. With chaeto growing decently, I assume its not all 0. But no algae issues in the tank.

    Musing on coral coloration

I upgraded my tank about 2.5 months ago to a Nuvo 20g. The live rock is from my old tank which ran for more than an year. Some corals have displayed good growth and some have shown no growth at all. But for most part, I am seeing a fading in the coloration for most corals. Most notable color...

    Fire Shrimp Molting

My fire shrimp is timely as the moon! Every 15 days, without fail. I notice he skips dinner on the 14th day and molts the next morning. About 15 months ago, it was the first time the shrimp molted in my very new 8g tank. After that he has been on schedule 95% of the times! Here a picture that...

    Toadstool not extending polyps

Never owned a toadstool myself, but I've heard that they do shed every now and then. https://www.thesprucepets.com/why-and-how-leather-corals-shed-2924476

    DBTC: Sunny D Zoa

My SunnyDs are looking no where close to @RandyC 's image. They are still recovering from the tank crash I had recently. However, I was able to grow 2 new polyps. Will post a picture soon.

Replacement pump for IM Ghost skimmer

I recently purchased a IM 20 gallon tank that came with a ghost skimmer. The skimmer was too loud so I took the pump apart and noticed that the impeller shaft had rust on it and was partly broken. I tried looking for replacement impeller, but apparently IM doesn't sell pump parts. I may be...

    Hermit's tank crash: Nuvo 8

The tank ran stable for about 8-9 months since I started using Purigen. Growth was great and nitrates were always undetectable. So I am tempted to keep the same filtration scheme.

    Hermit's tank crash: Nuvo 8

Given the small size of the tank, the purigen lasts much longer for me. Safer option is definitely getting a new bag.

    Hermit's tank crash: Nuvo 8

Thats the plan for next time. Not letting the Purigen completely dry was a rookie mistake.

    Hermit's tank crash: Nuvo 8

Thank you so much @ashburn2k. I might be around Berkeley next week. I'll ping you beforehand. If not, are you joining for the frag swap?
