    Green Goniopora

I would love a frag, but am not sure if I qualify, due to the recent retraction of my orange goni polyps. I am fortunate to have access to Screebo's nice coral saw. Will be at tomorrow's meeting.

    Green Goniopora

Beautiful big frag! Thanks for letting me know the conditions that lead to your goniopora thriving. My orange goni colony was doing great... really extension, until I put it too close to a brain/maze coral whose sweepers caused the goni polyps to retract.

Power usage... what am I doing wrong?

Picking up on Mario's idea... decreasing the lights to 250 watts would cut down on the heat & electrical costs. If there is a problem with complete coverage of the tank/shadows, maybe a self-moving track for the lights like JAR created? He has the big advantage of the fish room to mount the...

    Green Goniopora

Wow, that is a beautiful colony! Besides supplemental tank feeding, can you tell us what conditions it is thriving under (light, flow, neighboring colonies, etc.)?

    Doug's 180 Gallon Mixed Reef

I definitely agree with Bryan on the mushroom explosion problem. They have an amazing ability to reproduce by detaching from rocks and attach to all surfaces of the tank. They were even growing all over the back of my acrylic tank with its previous owner. I have had nice LPS corals lose to...

    Dynoflagelates(sp?)

I had this problem several months ago. A couple of days of no light, plus siphoning/water changes really helped the DF disappear.

"Don't tase me bro" (Stunner) Chalice *Re-named

I got a frag of the Hollywood Stunner from a store in S.D. in the spring. It grows faster than most chalices, and has cool green & yellow coloring! Mine is also at the bottom of a 24" tall tank, under 250w halides. Mario's frag looks very healthy... the purple edges show the new growth.

    Need help moving water

I have a bunch of 18 gallon Rubbermaid bins with lids that work really well for transporting live rock and big coral colonies... Can loan you at least 6 for your move, as well as some stackable 5 gallon jugs with screw on lids. I am in SSF.

    Recommendation of auto feeder

I'm looking forward to an auto-feeder with a funnel like Gresham mentioned!

    Recommendation of auto feeder

Kinetic, does your auto feeder have a ring underneath it, to prevent the pellets from falling into the overflow? Would you recommend the feeder ring that you are using?

    LED Lighting, yet another choice

John, thanks for starting this thread. Will be great to hear about BAR members' experiences with LED lights. It does seem like LED lights will be the wave of the future (pun intended), due to lower power consumption and not needing to replace bulbs frequently. Jugato's nanocube has LED...

    Rygh's 250 gallon upgrade

Wow, cool rock structure! Is there enough room from the sides of the tank to slide a magnet cleaner? I have a couple of spots in my tank where the rocks settled too close to the acrylic sides.

    Water Jugs

Like Mario, I decided the blue 7 gallon was too heavy, after filling it completely with RO water and lifting it... almost like those huge buckets of Salinity salt! I ended up getting the green 6 gallon vertical rectangular water containers that fit well in the car & hide next to my nano stand...

Chris, thank you for joining our site and weighing in with your thoughts about Mario's infection. Very important information for all of us to remember.

    Finger infection

Mario, I hope that you are OK... saying prayers for your health. I saw this thread on RC recently, and it is scary. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1821465&highlight=hospital+infection There are posts from microbiologist Christine Williams (Spracklcat, BAYMAC speaker) on...
