Baby’s Bangai’s in the small display!

Alright, got a quick video today. Not the greatest since they think it is feeding time. If I stand to far away from the tank you can see them moving around but the video is not as good. The problem is the regal, butterfly, wrasse, and clowns all think it is feeding time too. Can't wait till I...

    Longhorn cowfish

Damn, this is tempting. Have always wanted one, but I worry about them nuking at tank. I have read mixed reviews on the likelihood of this happening.

Baby’s Bangai’s in the small display!

Just another quick update. My son was looking at pics of the Bangai's and realized it has been 11 months since we saw the male brooding them babies in his mouth. That pic was from August of last year. So, it's almost time for a 1-year birthday party. We continue to have 12 of them and they are...

Reasons for sudden spike in Ca?

Just a quick update... I turned off my dosing pump. Had been dosing 40ml/day of two part calcium. I did a 30g water change. The display is 180g total volume. After the water change the calcium dropped to 470. It took about 3 days for the calcium to drop to 370. I recalibrated the dosing pumps...

Reasons for sudden spike in Ca?

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. Alk remains the same. pH remains stable. I may take you up on that offer Alexander. I did a water change and brought it back to 480. Stopped dosing for now, will restart dosing as it drops. I wonder if the Mg had something to do with it. Thank you, Gerry

Reasons for sudden spike in Ca?

Hello, I am trying to trouble shoot a sudden spike in my Ca. I use a neptune trident along with red sea test kit to compare. While I was out of town I got an alert from the trident my Ca had reached 530, had been hovering around 430. 1. I had just changed the B and C reagents before I left town...

    What are these?

I hope not. Haven't seen them in the tank or the sump. Just in the overflow, black clumps of crumbly stuff.

    What are these?

Well, Over the last two weeks I have been doing a deep clean and overhaul of the tank: cleaning out pumps, skimmer, wavemakers, detritus from the sump. Today I decided to clean out the drains and returns along with adding some random flow generators to the outlets. I did not realize how loud my...

    Sunrun/PGE Solar Panels

I guess it’s good they didn’t try and install something that would not be ideal. From what people have posted it seems some reps or companies are less than scrupulous.

    Kona

Kodak’s divers. But it’s about 40 minutes outside of Kona in Kawaihea. Bonus, the burger place next door is really good after a day of diving. https://www.kohaladivers.com/

Should Michael run a closed loop on his 210 gallon?

I am not that good at this hobby. So I subscribe to the KISS method. Pretty sure I would screw this up! But interested to seen the journal progress if it happens.
