    High phosphates no problem

My phos is above 0.9 currently and all corals (including high end SPS) are happy and colorful. I've been meaning to lower it but I usually forget to dose LaCl into my skimmer most days.

Complete Bonus/Ultra Coral List - 2024 (REVISED AS OF 2/16/25)

Recording and posting is probably something that can be done. As for the meeting in Dec it was last min as it was nearing the end of the year and the board at that time didn't plan it ahead of time enough and we just needed to squeeze one in before the end of the year according to our by laws...

Complete Bonus/Ultra Coral List - 2024 (REVISED AS OF 2/16/25)

Yea a committee is what I was trying to reference. Not board as in the BOD.

Complete Bonus/Ultra Coral List - 2024 (REVISED AS OF 2/16/25)

I'm liking the sound of the Ultra round and feel a 1:1 is fine for this as long as the list is very selective and there is a size standard set for the frags brought. Pre registering and having a board screen and approve them ahead of time also sounds like a good idea. One challenge in this I can...

Bigfish's swim into the sea - a tank journal

Leaving it in for the night is fine. Pull it tomorrow, keep a sample in salt water so Reefer Madness can scope it for ya.

Bigfish's swim into the sea - a tank journal

Late nights is about the only chance I get to peruse the forum. Lol

Bigfish's swim into the sea - a tank journal

The bubbles aren't a positive sign of ID. Diatoms and algae can also hold bubbles like that.

Bigfish's swim into the sea - a tank journal

Picture is a bit blurry but are you sure it's not just algae growing on the dead skeleton? If it's only isolated to the dead skeleton I would turn off flow and just clip that skeleton out and use a container in the tank to move the cut pieces into to minimize it floating and spreading in the...

Bigfish's swim into the sea - a tank journal

Just a heads up but fresh water dip doesn't kill aiptasia.

    Actual live rock at SWA

I completely agree. It kind of kills the point of buying live rock in the first place. And since the first one I have not ordered another batch from the supplier.

    Actual live rock at SWA

With shipping costs lately I doubt it's shipped submerged in water. Most places will just place wet paper towels inside with the rock. When I brought in a shipment of Aussie live rock there wasn't much life on it but it was wet.

FYI: knock off xr30 on sale.

I just got my 2nd one online. I left it unplugged for a couple days and it connected fine when I plugged it in and set it up tonight.

Red Sea replacing probes for free (ato)?

They sent me a new one with proof of purchase (receipt) no questions asked. They know they had a bad batch of probes going with some new units for a bit.

How do I make my overflow quiet

It's a external overflow with main drain and emergency drain (Herbie). You need a gate valve plumbed into the main drain (lower of the 2 in the box) as low to the sump as possible and close the gate to limit the flow and have the water just below the emergency drain in the external overflow box.

    MD’s 45 Gallon Frag Tank

From my experience, 4 weeks is the typical turning point for corals in a new system. I used to always have a lot of loss when QTing corals by batches and setting up a new tank every time I got a batch in. It's due to this that I decided to just run a full time dedicated fishless QT system.

    MD’s 45 Gallon Frag Tank

For tank transfers, if the receiving tank is good and stable with the same type of corals already in it then I find no issue just moving things straight over as long as parameters are in the same range as the tank the coral is coming from. If that is true then the only issue doing a big...

    Frags well-packed for the swap

Imo I feel like this won't count with the new stricter rules. The frag should be clearly and easily seen so that it can be inspected for health/pests not only by the check in table but also by anyone looking to pick it during the picking rounds. Maybe if the container is tall and easily seen...
