    Trident reagent usage question.

Yes, the reagent B and C tubes will dry out.

    Trident reagent usage question.

Just be careful reducing the number of tests, if the tubes dry out it is a big pain to clear them and keep things running. My thoughts here are to get the ABC reagents to reduce cost and run the tests the normal amount.

Cutting corals from the (encrusted) bottom - yes or no?

Extremely light pressure is also important when running these bandsaws as it is easy to push too hard and derail the blade from its wheels.

    Neptune trident advanced replacement

I get a test b failure on the Trident, and known good reagents don't do that.

    Neptune trident advanced replacement

How much do you care about buying new reagents? Chemical degradation is usually somewhat analog in that the hotter and the longer the worse it is. The reagent will be fine until it isn't. I would try to find an indoor closet floor if possible and I will be doing so in the future.

    Neptune trident advanced replacement

Jonas already wrote back and said one other person in Australia had the same thing happen with their B going bad after being left in a hot attic for a long time like I did in my hot garage. Apparently (go figure) he includes instructions to not store in high heat, but said thank you for the...

    Neptune trident advanced replacement

Not a bad idea, not to complain but rather to give him the data point. I did leave them in my garage in Vegas, so they got hot.

    AWC reliability

I would say find a used DOS pump if you have an apex, there is already programming out there for that. Lots of other non-Neptune solutions too, but a used DOS is ~$150-200 and they are super reliable.

    Neptune trident advanced replacement

Plugged in the new/used trident with the new silicone hoses and the old peristaltic tubing and it works! My very old ABC reagents don't work for the B/C test, but the A stuff does still. Got new ABC reagents coming in the mail. New trident for $250 plus some tubing and some time, score!

    Neptune trident advanced replacement

Fun fact, the silicone hosing I posted earlier doesn't work in the peristaltic pump. I kept getting no water sample until I swapped back to the old tubing. Not exactly sure why, but my guess is something with the friction of the surface of the tube being insufficient to allow the rollers to...

Sand sifting sea star (Astropecten polycanthus) - issues

Who is Claude? The cleaner shrimp in Finding Nemo is Jacques, and he would not approve either. I still can't get over that basketball of hammer coral. Edit: I have been alerted it is much larger than a basketball.

Sand sifting sea star (Astropecten polycanthus) - issues

I would just stop cleaning the sand and let the starfish eat its fill, I am sure your sand bed is fine. Feed a little heavy for two weeks to get the sand dirty again and everything will be a okay.

Try flushing rodi through the intake and out each of the reagent tubes and outlet, with them removed from the reagents. You do this by depressing two of the solenoids with your fingers and you push a syringe of rodi through the intake tube.

    Cool frag rack

But none of them are "floor mounted" Also not at this size/scale. But I get the limited options for placement at this size.

Sounds like we need a video tour posted here.

    Cool frag rack

I am kind of surprised we haven't seen this yet as a sold product. Add a few magnets and boom, beautiful rack at any height. (Patent pending?)

    210 gallon Dream tank

I don't have the most experience here, but what little I do says spend the money up front on the good material. I.e. get the thick stuff. Since you have this laid down already, I would try all the hacks there are before giving up on it.
