The clam needs a good spot to attach to (Maximas and croceas need to be on rock ideally). Try to find a piece of flat or concave rock for it to settle into. Also how much light is it getting?

Not entirely true. A higher alkalinity system will equilibrate to a higher pH assuming CO2 levels in the room are the same.
