Guide: Lanthanum Chloride dosing for Phosphate control

I'm sure it's gone already, assuming your system is producing some po4 for it to have bound to (and if it isn't...you don't need to worry about managing it in the first place). I am using even less LaCl than @Thales - a 10:1 RODI:LC dilution, but only about 4ml of this per day, spread across 4...

Guide: Lanthanum Chloride dosing for Phosphate control

Agree w/ @Alexander1312 , I had extremely elevated lanthanum levels due to an accident and my corals were perfectly fine (I think it was like 250+ ug/l - so several orders of magnitude greater than your result). Everything was fine, actually, except my yellow tang died. That being said, if you...

    Thomas' CADE Reef 1500 S2

I think I want to do this too - then I can keep some clams without exposing them to the mantis shrimp and CBB in the DT.

    Are my par readings ok?

More spread is always better, but as far as the actual intensity - it's perfectly fine. Some acros might prefer more (though not all) but they aren't going to die because of 300ish PAR. I also have mushrooms / LPS that have adapted to 300-500 PAR levels and are happy and growing just fine...

Challenges in removing chloramine in RODI setup

I am also using this - not really sure when to replace it, though. How are you testing for chloramines @Alexander1312 when I was on this road before, I could not really find a reliable test for chloramines - so I got the monster carbon filter and slapped it in my system upstream of the membranes...

Ultra Coral Submissions for 11/2 Frag Swap

Then go ahead and enter it in the sheet for us to vote on it :) I suspect something like a single head of dragon soul or green and purple frog spawn will not get confirmed as ultra - but won’t know unless we vote

Ultra Coral Submissions for 11/2 Frag Swap

Updated the initial post w/ the current list of confirmed Ultra corals - still voting! Some interesting items that have fallen to bonus and will NOT be Ultra this swap: Oregon Tort (too many at last swap prob?) GMK Zoa (definitely too many at last swap) JF Fox Flame (!?) ARC Master Yoda / RR...

DBTC - Official Rules and Best Practices - 2025 Update

The BOD decided we should make an official update to Mike's @Coral reefer old DBTC rules post (found here: https://www.bareefers.org/forum/threads/dbtc-info-rules.23030). I am going to unsticky Mike's old post (thank you Mike!) and sticky this one - until the next big update. For information...

    WYSIWYG SPS Coral Colonies

The point of me saying "BOD hat off" is to indicate that my opinions are not necessarily the same as other members of the BOD. We are a group of individuals and don't always have the same opinion or the same vision on these topics, and my comment is an effort to be clear about that. You are...

    WYSIWYG SPS Coral Colonies

As a hobbyist I am in agreeance with the sentiments of Randy, Tu, and Edgar. What Ed is doing is not meaningfully different from the group buys that Arnold has run in the past that everyone seemed to be perfectly fine with. I suspect the concerns from the LFS here have little to do with ethics...

Help Needed: Live Rock Bacteria & Nitrate question

    On this we can agree!

Help Needed: Live Rock Bacteria & Nitrate question

Because I have high flow and plenty of those trace elements. A better question is how do YOU know that it IS the root cause? With the enormous complexity in these tanks - do we really think "low flow and a couple low trace elements" is sincerely the true root cause of something that exists in...

Help Needed: Live Rock Bacteria & Nitrate question

Ah, if only that were true! Unfortunately it is not. At least not in my tank.

Help Needed: Live Rock Bacteria & Nitrate question

Great - so now we just need to understand the root cause of Cyano ;) :p

Help Needed: Live Rock Bacteria & Nitrate question

I used chemiclean not long ago (@H2OPlayar method), and did an Aquabiomics test before and after. My Cyano disappeared and and there was no impact to my biome results (still extremely high diversity after the treatment) other than the Cyano fell off the report. I also noticed that my acropora...

Volunteer thread for 11/2 frag swap!

Are we doing a separate check in table for bonus/ultra corals? I can do that again.
