Qckslvr and Mrs 90 gallon Oceanic tank build

TANK updated. As mentioned in another thread we got a new to us Hanna Master tester. I still need to get a fresh bottle of Alkalinity reagent (eyeing Neptune's bare shelf). I hate to say the higher gas prices are going to limit our LFS adventuring. But tank parameters seem to be normal to...

L/F leads on a possible frag swap location?

Not sure if this is in budget, but DeAnza also rents their facilities https://www.deanza.edu/facilities/facilityrentalfees.html My co-worker's wife is high up with McEnery Convention center. I asked him if there are any special deals that she could get us.

Alkalinity on 3 different mediums..... and none match

I am sure this is beat to death... But yeah Last night I scored a great deal on a Hanna Master test kit. I was pretty excited, and have had some shocks... First was Ammonia, it freaked me the eff out when it came up at .1 for both of my tanks. But some research, and some math I learned that my...

Qckslvr and Mrs 90 gallon Oceanic tank build

I believe our loss is due to lack of proper prep. this is an in sump reactor, not external. I assembled the reactor and placed 250 ml,of rowaphos directly into the first chamber. No bag, as it was not mentioned in our search on the internet. I did run about…. 2 gallons of RODI through the cup...

Qckslvr and Mrs 90 gallon Oceanic tank build

my wife loves the flame hawkfish as well, lots of personality. And we feed the tank 5 times a day, they are happy fish. But the wife and I hit a bit of a horror, and a hard learning lesson. On the 7th when doing the weekend testing we noticed something. The Nitrates were in 20s (not to...

I found four Aiptasia in my 90 :(

I have to agree that I think it possibly came from my chaeto as well. The downside is my wife and I were very cautions and bought our chaeto from a LFS close to my work to try and avoid this issue. Again quite bummed. A couple small aptasia have popped up, and I quickly hit them with F-Aptasia...

I found four Aiptasia in my 90 :(

I have updated my tank journal with a list of fish that are currently in the tank. seeing as my tank is literally 45 days old.... I would need to wait for a CBB? and would it work with my current inhabitants. Or would a Filefish be best. and I my wife just texted me that another has been spotted.

Qckslvr and Mrs 90 gallon Oceanic tank build

It's been a minute on my tank journal, as it has been running for just over 30 days. But I figure I should list my inhabitants! The fish that are swimming about happily. The fish! Splendid Pintail Fairy Wrasse Pink Streaked Wrasse Yellow Watchmen Goby x2 Tiger Pistol Shrimp Midas Blenny Nearly...

I found four Aiptasia in my 90 :(

So last night I scanned my tank for a hour.... Making sure the one baby aptasia I saw was the only one at the moment. It was about the size of an eraser at best. I covered it with F-Aptasia, and let it be. I actually covered a patch of the rock just to be sure. I showed my wife the File Fish...

do you have corals in your tank? A file fish would be kind of nice to have in the tank, but the wife wants corals. Hammers, torches, duncan, etc.

I found four Aiptasia in my 90 :(

2 in my chaeto, 1 on the glass in the refugium, and one on a small rock in the display tank. The two in the chaeto were easy... I gently removed the chaeto from the the sump, and carefully removed a clump that it was attached too. The one on the glass I syphoned out with a hose and razor. The...

We were going to check out Exotic Aquarium, but scared off by some of the reviews of them selling sick fish. Thanks for the list! We shall check them all! LOL

    Pitho Crabs

are they really peaceful? My wife picked up a pair of watchmen gobbies yesterday for our 30 gallon. She loves watching the tanks and will watch them for hours. She acclimated the gobies, and put them in the 30. Do note the stock of our 30 has changed, two clowns, one 6 line wrasse, one long...

    Happy Wife

the store front is a little bigger than Neptune. They are more fish and reptile than coral. Not a huge coral selection like Neptune, AC, or VA on corals. Half the store is reptile, and half aquatic. Their equipment selection is on par with AC and Neptune, They do have have a really large stock...

    Happy Wife

is always a good thing. As visiting A&RD in Citrus Heights is not exactly a short drive to check out. But the wife won $400 in their 13th annual anniversary celebration raffle. Our 90 gallon is going to get some really nice corals here in month. Made the 5 hour round trip worth it :)
