Sorry. Late to the party. Yea you can use line lock connectors. If you want a permanent solution. Then solder it and shrink tube it. Or a cold weld crimp. I’m a fan of the cold weld crimp if done correctly.

Yeah. You would bleed off the junk. That’s the beauty of it. Brass fitting can be replaced with a pvc fitting.

Remove as much as you can. Test nitrate and phosphate daily for a while. Have saltwater for water change to correct and spikes.

Remove that over flow. It might come in handy for a future build. That you might do.
