I'm now in the eight Kessil club. Previous configuration was 6 kessils down the center area and two rows of four Quanta Pro strips in the front and back. I wasn't 100% happy because the LED strips washed out some of the shimmer and I had to compensate the blue color by cranking the Kessils to...
I'm about 5 minutes away and have a pair of heavy duty dollies plus 4 smaller suction cup handles if u guys need to borrow. Probably can't make it to help at that time though.
Ask Kenny what it was eating at the store and feed it after leaving the flow off for a couple minutes so it feels comfortable. It's not unusual for a fish to stay close to a hiding spot for a couple weeks while it gets used to the new environment.
Correct, i have two rows of Quanta Pro meseo blues (4 x 36") which are not dimmable. I'm thinking of switching to 2 x 36" down the center and have the kessils front and back since I'm a bigger fan of the Kessil asthetic.
$100 each if anyone else is interested
I was really surprised how fast they settled in and started growing. Usually frags take months or even years in my tank to encrust then start growing. Should be ready to make new dbtc frags in a couple months :)
SC Orange Passion
ORA Frogskin
Pink Caddilac
Jimbert 23k
Bill Murray. This one stopped growing for a month and lost its color, then restarted but growing in extremely dense with branches fused together
This one I like the collision of corals that's i've given up on trying to prune back...
Took pictures of the other corals while I was at it
CB Malificent
ARC Fireworks

Some dragons that are growing out
WWC Little Red Ferrari

Vivid Confetti. It's been growing well but lost its...
Acros have been doing well so I picked up some new higher end ones. Tried out this site called Reefnbid.com for coral auctions and won some from Pieces of The Ocean at a fraction of their highly absurd retail prices. Pretty happy with the frag sizes and the fact that they're encrusted ... unlike...
Welcome! A long time ago I was also a reefer at SJSU and knew a couple others. Hah I remember what it was like to do major budget reefing and DIYing everything.
If you save $30 that you'd spend on coral and come to one of the club's member coral swaps, i promise you'll get way more from the...
I use the 55w 3" body model. It's pretty big
Sleeve $5-15, change every 1 to maybe 3 years.
Bulb $70, change every year. Uses an amalgam which is supposedly better than regular fluorescent.
My stance is that cheap is fine for temporary use. I run mine 24/7 so opted for something better.
Just replaced the bulb and sleeves on my Lifeguard Pro-Max unit today. One of the reasons why I choose this model is the beefiness and ability to replace the PVC liner. Now I see why. After two years the liner has gone from 1.75mm to 1.2mm and feels a whole lot more brittle. With cheap plastic...
Is this to make your apex look fancy? U can make your own. Buy the male and female plug parts then put whatever 3 wire orange cable you want. 14 gauge should be good. Ive seen some nice orange braided wire being used.

Hiding the tank so the significant other doesn't complain about the uglies phase? :p
First year I went through outbreaks of three different types of dinos, cyano, and chrysophytes. I got a lot of "why does your tank look so gross and ugly?"
@dandemeyere id recommend keeping one or two for maintenance. Even though the display might seem clear of aiptasia, guaranteed they're still lurking in your overflow, pipes, sump, and will eventually make their way back in. Happened to me twice.
