I picked up a used Red Sea Reefmat-500 for $150. Guy bought it, apparently ignored the SALTWATER ONLY part in the description... couldn't get it to work right, after two months working with Red Sea support, they (Red Sea Support) finally realized it was freshwater... the sensor isn't calibrated...

Only works on non-discounted / regularly priced items though.

I have a cheat code, the guy I got it from breeds Copper Band Butterflies. He is the most unorthodox reefer I have ever met, and not only challenges, but disproves so many of the “industry myths” I can’t even. I wish I could tell you guys more (it’s truly fascinating), but it’d be unfair to him...

Ok and just so you guys know, I’m not *THAT* terrible. Spent spring (their fall) last year on a photo safari in South Africa, this guy was so close my wife ducked down and hid in the truck, luckily he’d just eaten, also had a nasty wound around his neck from being caught in a poachers snare.

I’ve got a leopard, they can’t single-handedly wipeout a pod population. If your tank has a healthy ecosystem and you’re not starving the wrasse, pods will be reproducing in numbers it (and other predatory fish) can’t wipe out, though I think it’s a good idea to supplement with fresh pods...

And probably more stuff, I have to go see what else I’ve got laying around.

If anyone has an old sump I have a hang on back overflow so they don’t have to worry about drilling, and can get rid of the canister filter.

Yeah PG&E pricing was a conversation we had as well this summer, the monthly bills were insane! Last year too. Not only my tanks but her freshwater, and the 3000 gallon pond, the pool, the AC, the light bulbs, solar… I decided against solar, don’t plan on being in this particular house long...

Haha the thumb is pretty much healed, the nail was growing funky for a couple of months and I'm surprised it didn't just fall off! I can't quite bend it all the way any more, but it's nothing that hampers me in general. I definitely would've asked for help but this was a shotgun thing, happened...
