ok - this was my highlight coral - and yes, been 11 years since someone posted in this - does anyone have a frag of it?

Saying hello - been 10 years since I moved to Philly

I'm resurrecting my thread! Tank is happily running, lights up, pumps running, CA Reactor working, corals growing! I worked stupid long hours Feb-April, and now have a little break to get back to the tank. The fish from above, mostly the wrasses, are swimming all over the tank. I have added...

When do you feel comfortable not to QT new fish.

I am doing a hybrid TTM on all new fish - using H202 - I also feed prazi/metro mix for 3 weeks. Inverts I am doing at 82 degrees for 35 days. For corals - I dont have a great plan yet - I have two separate tanks, so I am using those as holding tanks for now - and will evaluate as I go. I...

Saying hello - been 10 years since I moved to Philly

an update! Yay - On the sad side...the massive duncan colony did not make it - I blame the extreme slowness of the area, as well as just my inability to get it healthy. I should have just more propertly set up a decent tank (like a 60/90) and housed some corals in there from the get go...just...

The tank is 120x36x30 - approximately 561 gallons. Its VERY large, lol!

Saying hello - been 10 years since I moved to Philly

the fun continues...slowly! I got the side overflow removed, but the tank is completely etched there - tried strong acid, tried some very light polish....nothing! GRR! I'm actually going to use 1000/1500/2000 grit sandpaper and see if I can just get the surface stuff off - if not, I can just...

Saying hello - been 10 years since I moved to Philly

I have a tank! Move was crazy - but it took 9 guys (and me occasionally moving a dolly to assist). Basically, 8 guys,4 on each side, used heavy-duty moving shoulder straps -and the just lift as a team and go. No matter how you shake it, 1000+ lbs is heavy and its so big and awkward! I have...

and i tried piano movers - could not get a taker. If this falls through, I'll go back through a list again of moving companies and piano movers to find a team...tbd!

Saying hello - been 10 years since I moved to Philly

The first pic is the tank empty at the old home - it was built into that wall with the fish room behind. The blank wall is where the tank will go - plumbing to the basement with all the equipment down there, including the frag tanks and such. I have suction cups - and yes, part of a reef-club -...

Saying hello - been 10 years since I moved to Philly

Hi Everyone! Another update - on a side note - I really miss the bay area and all the reefer friends - feels like a little bit of a tighter community than here in Philly. Regardless - I moved all corals and fish from the tank about 4 weeks ago - plan was for the tank to be moved two days...

Saying hello - been 10 years since I moved to Philly

well, some updates 3-months later - tank is not yet moved from its prior location. We've had a lot of snow here in Philly as well as ice, so my construction crew has been delayed at least 6 weeks for installing some supports in the basement for the new tank. Tank is going to be in-wall...

Saying hello - been 10 years since I moved to Philly

Susan, I'm in the western suburbs (Gladwyne). I dont yet have a backup generator, so that's an issue as we do lose power almost every year. I have a bid for a new solar panel system and 2 battery backups, as I'd just need to make sure heat is on and minimal pumps running!

Saying hello - been 10 years since I moved to Philly

That is incredibly generous - always was a great group - I dont even have a tank yet! So that's a bit premature! I was thinking mostly of this one - (post from reefcentral) that I called the raspberry prostrata. (very furry pink coral in back right) - I gave some away, but also it was being...

Saying hello - been 10 years since I moved to Philly

Hope everyone is well! thinking of setting up a tang again and its really hard in Philly! NY is a long drive, same with CT, and there are not many reefers around to trade with. Curious if anyone still has some of my old corals in this group? Also, since its been so long, what is the new SPS...

Where to buy koi in or near sf?

I have purchased koi in San Jose - I'll say this, there are a lot of possible places to buy koi, what do you want? A couple of 6-10" fish? Or do you want one or two 12" fish, or do you want a show quality 18-24" fish? Search on Google for "koi san jose" and a few places that I recommend are...

    Hydrogen Peroxide dipping

Revive helps with the dead tissue? If so, great, I have some of that sitting around.

    Kyle's 40G sps Reef

Thanks Robin, been meaning to contact you...want to decide on a nice pair/trio of fish for the tank! The recent news is that we had a baby girl - she turned 1 month on the 25th, so I am not getting a lot of sleep...My pumps have both recently failed, so I have replaced them with the...

    Hydrogen Peroxide dipping

Hey guys - I rescued a bunch of LPS from a fellow reefer, a few of them have some spots that are dying back...I recall at this meeting that the speaker dipped corals that smelled like they were dying and was successful in keeping the rest alive...anyone else recall this and can to engage in a...
