So based on many conversations about how to safely remove the Palythoa rocks from this tank. I have obtained 3 55 gallon food grade screw top barrels. I wanted to wait but I couldn't pass up the chance to get these, and they were far cheaper than totes and other options would have been.
The addtion of them being water tight with gaskets helps me not need to worry about vapors escaping once they are sealed up. Plan is to careful place rocks in these without water. For travel to my house where I will than add water and bleach them.
I would not have the means to lift these full of rocks and water even with help. Rocks alone should be easily done with 2 people to lift them.
These buckets will eventually be my own rodi storage and mixing Station once bleaching process is done.
The tank comes with two barrels that were part of that system, They have holes in them for the plumbing already so wouldn't be air tight for transport.
Those coming with the tank I plan to either trade, sale cheaply, pay it foward - still undecided yet. (This Is in no way a sales pitch, however if you may be intrested in them at some point let me know)
As far as gear l have have on the my future Amazon list for safely:
25 inches long for scraping/cutting the Palythoas of the tanks glass while still submerged.
For safe removal of the Palythoa rocks.
For respiratory protection, $29 for two of masks with filters including carbon.
This pump I already have, it works so well I can't use it on my 32biocube for water changes for a 200 gallon tank it would be a heck of alot faster than a gravel vacum.
Currently my pump has a 5 nylon hose only to move water to/from buckets right next to the tank.
The practical plan I'm leaning towards is to not risk dumping 150+ gallons of potential contaminated water in their backyard using their existing hard plumbed water change system.
I plan to add 25 ft hose to the 5ft one already on the pump using the double barbed fitting in later picture. I this it's better to drain the water in to a sink, tub, or a toliet even. To keep their dog safe that plays in their back yard.
So the rest of this saftey gear I will grab soon.
